There's a new report today that we'll return to Springfield for a game next season. North Texas is expected to give us a return game, and it'll be down at the MassMutual Center.

Not too surprising. Saturday's game with UNT is technically the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic.

7 of our last 8 games in Springfield had Hoop Hall tie-ins, so this looks to be another.

Aside from UNT, we're also expected to play at Penn State next season, returning their visit to us.

Games are at Coastal Carolina's arena in nearby Conway.

November 17, 18, 20 (Thurs, Fri, Sun), the week before Thanksgiving.

One team to add to a field of
Boise State - we've never faced before, but we'll see our former broadcaster Bob Behler there.
Charlotte - haven't played 'em since 2013 when they were still in the A-10.
Colorado - haven't played 'em since 1997
Loyola Chicago - haven't played before, but they'll be in the A-10 next season
Texas A&M - haven't played before
Tulsa - only played once, in the 1995 Sweet Sixteen

Totally missed this, but that's a solid group of teams. Not sure if they'll make sure Umass and Loyola don't play each other until their 3rd game respectfully if the chips fall where they may, since they will be in the same conference. Wouldn't be surprised to see us play Boise or Colorado in the 1st game.

The Myrtle Beach Invitational field has been completed, with the addition of Murray State.

The other teams in the field and how they fared in 2021-22:
Boise State
27-8 / 15-3, 1/11 in the Mountain West
They won the MW Tournament, got an 8 seed in the Dance, fell to Memphis.

Charlotte
17-14 / 10-8, 4/7 in Conf USA East
They ended their season at the hands of Carl Pierre and Rice in the C-USA Tourney.
Coach Ron Sanchez has been meh (50-64 / 30-40) in his four years there.

Colorado
21-12 / 12-8, 4/12 in the Pac-12
They made the NIT field but Bonaventure beat 'em on their home floor in the first round.
Coach Tad Boyle has 20+ wins in each of the last four seasons.

Loyola Chicago
25-8 / 13-5, 4/10 in the Missouri Valley, their last in The Valley before their A-10 move this summer
First-year coach Drew Valentine got the Ramblers to win the MVC Tournament title. As a 10-seed in the Dance, they lost to Ohio State in the first round.

Murray State
31-3, 18-0, 1/10 in the Ohio Valley.
Great season, as they were 13-13 / 10-10 the year before.
They got a 7 seed in the Dance, won their first against San Francisco before falling to the Cindarella run of St. Peter's in the Second Round.

Texas A&M
27-13 / 9-9, 8/14 in the SEC
40 games played. I've never heard of so many. (Our high is a couple of 37s.) They reached the championship in both the SEC Tourney and the NIT, losing the NIT by 1 point to Xavier.

Tulsa
4-14 / 11-20, 10/11 in the AAC
Their worst season in the 8-year tenure of coach Frank Haith, who resigned last month. New coach is Eric Konkol, moving up from a 7-year run at Louisiana Tech, where he finished in the top 3 of C-USA in each of the last 3 seasons. He was an assistant at Mason in 2002-05 and 2007-11.

I feel like there's gotta be a good UMass contingent at that tournament.

1. Compared to the field, UMass is probably only better than Charlotte (maybe?) over the past 5 years so it's comparatively a strong field.
2. Myrtle Beach isn't too expensive and is an easy trip for a lot of UMass alums. You can easily turn it into a golf trip as well
3. Most excitement for the program since Chaz left with Frank Martin coming in along with a few players with potential. Hopefully there's 1 or 2 more coming in to join them.

I won't be going myself, but I encourage the rest of you to go, haha. I will be making at least a couple games next year and last year I didn't go to 1, so I'm more excited too.

I’ll be makin the trip to Conway, South Carolina for sure. And if any games are in Florida as well. I was lucky enough to be about 1 of the 10 fans at the tournament in St.Pete this year, I wouldnt miss any umass game that is near me, whether they suck or are good.

Somebody posted this but I think he saw the "L" and filled in the wrong team. The only possible validation is if they didn't want two teams from the same conference, but I'm more inclined to think "ERROR".

Dartmouth was pretty dismal last year (9-16). They did, however, manage to beat Georgetown by 9 at Georgetown.
