Happy to keep that part of your legacy up.

Speaking of which, timely to listen to this today:

Even with that old tape recording a bit shaky, good to hear Jack Leaman on there.

Towson confirmed their visit on 11/10 in their schedule announcement today. In it we also learn that we'll play there next year.

So 4 games left, is it now?

Was hoping for Harvard before the tournament. We need to toggle up quality of opposition before that to prepare for it.

Maybe we can squeeze in something like one of Lowell, St. Peter's, BU or Siena followed by one of
Iona, NU, Yale, Princeton, Old Dominion or another fairly competitive mid-major. Best we should expect given that we have a world-class HC now.

People are going to avoid scheduling us right now. Just like when Cal was here.

Hopefully we can get interesting opponents that challenge us and keep us from falling into bad habits.

Decent mid-major programs are going to start wanting a home game in return. Just look at Towson.

I think Frank is going to need to push for 2-for-1s with mid-major opponents.

We could opt for tournaments that bring random D1 opponents like we often see in these cases. But I like the quality of this tournament. Neutral site against solid NET/RPI opponents. Takes pressure to land a big draw opponent to Bill from rpi perspective . Makes winning more important factor as our opponents will be what we can get.

BC, ConU, Providence, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John's , etc. are likely going to be risk averse to coming here. Frank has SEC and AAC level players in the A10.

I think that we should seek 1-1-1 agreements with this level.

Given the challenge in getting opponents to come to the Bill, we can dabble a game or two per year at other sites in New England. In the future, I am ok with maximum of 2 games in Mass per year OOC, as long as it is of reasonable profile. Holy Cross would be borderline. One should be neutral site.

We have lopsided towards neutral sites, Wqjthis year.

I don't expect Frank to be able to do this in his first year. He has enough on his plate. We make a statement this year and we will draw fans and students. Gotta find teams to come here.. Those who aren't afraid to play us.i bet will be scarce in our area.

Wouldn't be totally surprised if we land a buy game but I think we will be seen as too risky now. So I think we will have 4 more home games- all mid-major.

I wouldn't be opposed to signing a 2 for 1 deal with Vermont. The Catamounts usually have a credible team.

^^ I think we only have 3 left to schedule. I have 10 and you get 13. I included last year's records:
H - CCSU 8-24
H - Towson 25-9
N - Colorado 21-12
N - Texas A&M/Murray State 27-13/31-3
N - Final Game at Myrtle Beach Tourney ??
A - USF 8-23
A - Harvard 13-13
Springfield - North Texas 25-7
H - Dartmouth 9-16
Brooklyn - Hofstra 21-11

Yes, Texas A&M played 40 games. 31 regular season, 4 in their conference tournament and 5 in the NIT.

"nobody wants to play"

Might be waiting another month to complete the schedule if that's true.

I think that's just Frank commiserating about how hard it is to schedule higher profile programs. I don't take it literally that nobody wants to play. He's used to big conference basketball, welcome to mid-major basketball.

The Myrtle Beach Tournament is an exempt event, so I believe it only counts as 1 game against a team's limit.

Let's get LIU on the schedule, just because!

I was told by someone in the ticket office that we were shooting for 15 home games this year. So far we have 9 conference games and only 3 non-conference games. That means that all 3 of the remaining games should be home games. Maybe that's what is holding up any news. Are teams now afraid to come to Amherst to play us?

I think teams are totally afraid of what FM has brought to Amherst.

FM has brought in a strong transfer class, a solid freshman class to go with Noah, TJ and Dyondre. So I would think P5 schools would be reluctant to come to Amherst and play. Neutral sites ( Boston, Worcester and Springfield) might be acceptable for P5 schools. I’d be fine with NCAA tournament potentials like Vermont, Iona or former rival Temple, an up and coming team like Albany to go with schools like Harvard, Yale, Holy Cross, BU, UML or Northeastern to fill out a home schedule.
