Game 11, 2021-22: North Texas (12/11)
Re: Game 11, 2021-22: North Texas (12/11)
Man...I hope I'm wrong, but based on the way this season has been going, 5-0 at home, 1-2 at neutral sites and 0-2 away, there's not much that would lead me to believe that UMass will win this game.

If you have any post season aspirations, you must win on the road.

This is a can’t lose game.

They average 67 per game. Keep them under 70 and we have a good shot of taking this one. For us, probably easier said than done.

^ They will most likely score 80

This game definitely worries me. It's common knowledge that McCall's teams have very little success on the road, and this is about as far from home as we're going to get.
Reading the preview in the Gazette (https://www.gazettenet.com/UMass-basket ... s-43958717), North Texas plays the 3rd slowest pace in the country, while we're a quick jack-up-shots kind of team. We need to defend for the entire shot clock and rebound. I see this as being similar to the Rutgers game. Rutgers was happy to play deep into the shot clock and work the paint. We had success against that style once after going into a zone and playing good interior defense, we'll see if they can do it again ... on the road.

It is scary how bad McCall has been on the road against inferior competition.

According to the Denton Record Chronicle, we're still an elite team.

Unfortunately, our zone tends to leave the top of the key open so, if they have a good 12-foot jump shooter, we could be in trouble. Then again, if they have a 12-foot player, you can only hope he can't shoot free throws.Juice Stand wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 7:47 am This game definitely worries me. True. However, this team is not inferior and would be a quality win for us. Here's their take on how to beat us from one of their writers:
