Yeah let’s fix the problem of hiring an inexperienced head coach who’s in over his head by hiring an even more inexperienced head coach who’s currently 1-7 on the season…fool proof planPreecherJenkins wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 8:34 pm Okay we know the money is there to buy out McCall since they won’t have to pay bell.
Bamford needs to buy em out this week. Save the program. Give Ricky the interim job and go hire d killings in March.

Can someone who watched this give a quick breakdown of the game? We just play shitty, they light it up ?

Change that to John Becker and I agree. His Vermont contract expires in April. He could be basketball's Carvel (without the National Championship...probably ).PreecherJenkins wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 8:34 pm Okay we know the money is there to buy out McCall since they won’t have to pay bell.

I would also like an explanation from someone who watched the game. Looking at the box score, the shooting %, rebounds, turnovers, fouls, etc. are reasonable. It looks like they must have really slowed the pace as we only took 49 shots and had 13 free throws.
How did we only score 57 points?

For those asking what happened, it was a physical game with the refs letting them play and UMass isn’t built for that. Buttrick and Steadman were invisible. The unfortunate reality is pretty clear at this point, which is a middle of the road A10 team with a coach that is not inspiring confidence for the present or future. It’s looking like a .500 conference record or maybe a little worse, and we’ll be looking for a new coach come March. Sucks.

What experienced coach is taking the umass job? Becker at Vermont. This board has a love affair for this dude. If he was so great why hasn’t anyone else hired him?Kelz626 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 8:45 pmYeah let’s fix the problem of hiring an inexperienced head coach who’s in over his head by hiring an even more inexperienced head coach who’s currently 1-7 on the season…fool proof planPreecherJenkins wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 8:34 pm Okay we know the money is there to buy out McCall since they won’t have to pay bell.

Killings is the guy who needs to be brought in next. They have rallying crying at Albany called mentality. Dk at least has a focus and ideology that’s more than we can say about Matthew McCall. (see below). Someone pls enlighten the room on what McCall has done? Given that Eli dude an incentive to get more students at a game by paying for someone’s spring break trip?

Get rid of MCall now.. its obvious hes gone at the end of the year since we have zero recruits. There should be a decent pool of candidates out there.. we have a solid league, good facilities, and the pay isnt terrible. I'm not sure you can bring Killings in to take a flyer on if hes going to be a good head coach or not.. too risky.

I wasn't able to watch the game, and it sounds like not a whole lot of others did either. Did they really have another 18-point first half deficit?
I know this team is capable of going on a wicked hot streak, but they're consistently digging these deep holes and that just won't fly come conference time. The inability to defend is maddening, and the 5-year history of McCall's teams being totally putrid on the road has sort of squashed my interest in even paying attention to the road games.

We need to be rid of the equipment manager.
Re: Game 11, 2021-22: North Texas (12/11)
I saw the whole fiasco and we were outmatched inside by UNT's Bigs! The physicality of the game was all in their favor, they play good D and didn't allow us any open shots for three's! As the announcer said, UNT wanted it more and we had no one who stepped up. All the 50/50 balls and hustle plays were theirs and even if the officiating favored them mainly in the first half, we didn't come to play! Time to move on from McCall! If you want to see a team that plays together and seem to know what they're doing, watch the women!

^^^^ agreed.. McCall built this roster and I dont see it getting better.
Re: Game 11, 2021-22: North Texas (12/11)
was thinking the same thing last night...if they could just keep it close or even into the 2nd half, they always seem to have an 11-0 or 15-2 run in them...if they can do that while tied or only down a few in the 2nd half rather than going on that type of run down 18-20 points they might actually win easily. They fight so hard to get back into the game by going on a 12-0 run, the other team gets a hoop or two and it's demoralizing.Juice Stand wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 7:52 am I wasn't able to watch the game, and it sounds like not a whole lot of others did either. I don't remember a game this year, win or lose where they have not gone on a huge run only to have the other team do the same thing. For a team to average almost 80 points a game, yet go 4-5 minutes each game without scoring a point is mind boggling.

If basketball is going to be relevant again it’s time to go after someone like Archie Miller.Kelz626 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 8:45 pmYeah let’s fix the problem of hiring an inexperienced head coach who’s in over his head by hiring an even more inexperienced head coach who’s currently 1-7 on the season…fool proof planPreecherJenkins wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 8:34 pm Okay we know the money is there to buy out McCall since they won’t have to pay bell.
