Re: 2021-2022 Season Game vs. UNT
Don't see the game vs. North Texas in Ft. Worth with a string yet, but wondered if anyone knows what section UMass supporters may be in? Can you source tix through UMass?
For those not aware, it's a tripleheader with UMass v. UNT as the 2nd game on Saturday December 11th. Ms. St., Co. St., SFA and Liberty also involved.

UNT is currently 3-3. They have one more game between now and ours, hosting Nevada this Saturday.

They'll be well rested, versus our having to play at Northeastern on 12/7, then travel down to DFW. Our finals period also starts 12/10.

Re: Game 11, 2021-22: North Texas (12/11)
Hard to tell how good they are, but this may be our hardest remaining non-con game (Harvard is a close second). They are 3-3 but their losses have been to Buffalo by 3 at home and to Kansas and Miami in a tournament (by 12 and 6). In their last game, they beat a pretty good Drake team by 3 in that tournament.
Their other 2 wins were against nobody so they're tough to figure.

Their RPI is 322 but that's pretty irrelevant at this point of the season.
Re: Game 11, 2021-22: North Texas (12/11)
^ RPI isn't used, and for a good reason. Oakland is #2.
"Net" is much more accurate. N. Texas is 53 and we are 119.

Re: Game 11, 2021-22: North Texas (12/11)
KenPom has North Texas at 112 and UMass at 116. ESPN's predictor has UMass favored in all remaining OOC games, except for North Texas, where they give UMass ~40% chance of winning. Would be great if all that happens, mainly because we'd beat Harvard.

Ha ha. I didn't say send them a fax
If you want the real UM section at road games, it's worth the phone call to the UM ticket office.

The DFW UMASS Alumni network will be sitting in section 114. Tickets are only available through Ticketmaster, so if you're able to join us, grab yourself some seats. We will have a brief Meet & Greet with Coach McCall after the game. Also be sure to register at ConnectUMASS, so the Alumni Association can get a headcount.

Scouting UNT...
They're 4-3 on the season so far. Wins over
OK Christian (D2)
UT-Arlington (Sun Belt)
Drake - This is their best so far. Drake was receiving votes in the polls.
LSU-Shreveport (NAIA) - This was a replacement game when Nevada had to cancel due to COVID.
Lost to
Buffalo at home. UB is decent this season but at home UNT probably should have won that.
Kansas in a Florida event, the day before Dayton got 'em.
Miami (FL) in the Florida event.
Stat leaders & starters
Tylor "Don't call me Madea" Perry (5'11 182 G Jr). 13.9 ppg, .485 from 3, up on the national list with CJ Kelly, 1.4 rpg, 12 steals. 27.6 mpg but all as a sub, zero starts. Great at the line at .875
Thomas Bell (6'6 205 F Sr), 13.4 / 6.4 (leads team). Turnover prone at almost 4 per game. Shoots .345 from 3.
Madrez McBride (6'2 180 G Sr), 9.0 / 3.7. Shoots more 3s than Perry, but only makes .302
Rubin Jones (6'5 190 G So), 8.9 / 3.3
Abou Ousmane (6'10 230 F So), 7.3 / 5.1 in 18.7 minutes, but foul prone (4.9 per 40 min)
Aaron Scott (6'7 190 G/F Fr)), 5.0 / 4.1 in 14.1 minutes off the bench
JJ Murray (6'1 180 G Gr), 3.9 / 3.4
They shoot 25.4 threes per game, but only hit collectively at .326, in the 200s nationally.
Scoring average of 66.6 per game is 278th
Their defensive average of 55.3 is skewed by their schedule. Against D1s, they give up 65.8. Even #4 Kansas only put 71 on them. If they can do what they do against our offense, that could be a problem. Fortunately for us though, they're offensively challenged.
They're +6.0 on the glass, again skewed a bit, but could be trouble versus our -2.6. Our 32.3 per game average is 316th nationally

Looks like a great matchup at the PG spot. Their 5'11" sharp-shooting guard Perry vs Noah Fernandes.

You guys who are going should check out the first game between Colorado State and Mississippi State. That should be a good one. Most of the time, CSU is a fine example on how to play team basketball.
Piss poor planning on my part to not be there for this. Kicking myself.

Re: Game 11, 2021-22: North Texas (12/11)
We finally get a game where the opposing guards aren't 6'5. We can win this game if we defend. That's all there is to it. I think we can score on almost anyone. We scored 76 on Tuesday without 4 of our top 7 making any meaningful contributions. We just can't give up 82 to a team that scores 62 as we did against Northeastern.
