Davidson, by far the top-rated A10 team as conference play nears, beat #10 Alabama on the road tonight. Davidson started the night with a NET ranking of 52 (must be in the 40s now). Next highest A10 team is St. Louis at 72
Re: Around the A-10 (2021-22)
Hard to believe, but the 2022 transfer portal is already going. No high impact transfers yet, but already 3 from the A10. About 100 players in the portal already. I'm not sure whether some of those transfers go after first semester (i.e., now).

Re: Around the A-10 (2021-22)
Piggy backing off my post in the St Louis thread, CBS' Matt Norlander says all A10 Thursday games are off. That's Dayton/Rhody, Davidson/Duquesne, SBU/GW, SLU/UMass, and Mason/VCU.
The A10 also voted to change their forfeit rules. Games will be postponed and rescheduled. If unable to be rescheduled, it's a no-contest, but if one team opts out of playing the rescheduled game, it can be a forfeit.

Re: Around the A-10 (2021-22)
The A10 has to use it's brain (if it has one) and flex games with healthy teams so that a reasonable number of games can be played. Otherwise, it may be a lost season. Look how well Hockey East did with that process last year. Not perfect, but a lot of games were played.

Agreed... if they have healthy teams, move things around.

It is a lot easier with the HE foot print of New England and most schools within a 3 hour drive. A10 is all over the place now. If it can be done, do it.InnervisionsUMASS wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 5:24 pm Agreed... if they have healthy teams, move things around.

I'm anticipating a pretty slow day at work. If Bamford needs me to make some calls, I can certainly make myself available.
Re: Around the A-10 (2021-22)
I thought there was a rule against transferring within a conference???
12/28/2021 - Dayton 2021 PG Lynn Greer III (6-3, 185, 4★) will be transferring to Saint Joseph's.

Conferences set their own rules. A 10 allows it for going home I believe. He is going back to his hometown.

^ I got "un-lazy" and looked it up. It's even broader than I/you/all of us thought.
It probably won't benefit the men's team (what great player would transfer here) but might the women's team be able to entice a great A10 player if a specific need came about?6/10/2021 4:21:05 PM
Story LinksNEWPORT NEWS, Va.— The Atlantic 10 Conference concluded its annual Presidents Council / Athletic Directors business meetings Thursday, making several key decisions related to student-athlete welfare, league policies, procedures and championships. Lead among these was removal of the league's intraconference transfer policy for men's and women's basketball. This action permits immediate eligibility for basketball student-athletes transferring between two A-10 institutions, aligning the conference with the NCAA transfer legislation.

Re: Around the A-10 (2021-22)
Missed that this summer. Makes sense. With the transfer portal being opened for one time transfers the league needed to allow this or worry about losing top talent. I believe the other P6 leagues did a similar thing. I do remember it being allowed for kids going home before (hardship rule-I think UMass benefitted at times with this rule). Guess that doesn’t matter now.69MG wrote: ↑Wed Dec 29, 2021 2:51 pm ^ I got "un-lazy" and looked it up. It's even broader than I/you/all of us thought.
