I didn't know SteveMaz had so many burners on here....
Put me down as a hell no...
Well done!
RP is all about RP and could care less about Umass. As already noted, when he was basically silent on Lehman's death, that was the final line.
I have little doubt that every major basketball program is compromised in one way or another, that just is part of the program and I can live with that. But having THE only person on the planet who loves himself even more than Trump loves himself is a HARD NO.

It’s hard for me to question the morals of other coaches in the college sports world. Like you said, it happens at every college. Umass and MM just got burned by trying a different way to beat the system.

I have sort of changed my mind. I was a definite NO and now I'm a maybe. We need to do something big.

How many years is Pitino's current contract, and how much is Iona giving him?

UMass just does not have the pockets to buyout MM, much less add Pitino. And with his ego, he would only jump to a P5 program, like Indiana which just fired their coach. Indiana boosters are paying him $10m through boosters to leave.

He's coaching at friggin' Iona right now. Pretty sure most P5's won't touch him still and his ego has been humbled enough to coach at Iona. I think coaching at his alma mater is about as good as he can do right now

I don’t want to compare Umass and Indiana basketball but as state universities are we really 1/10 smaller than them when it comes to a buyout? Umass is a great state school with many notable alums. I don’t know the inner workings of school buyouts, but if the going rate for a P5 school is 10 million, 1 million to buy out a Umass b-ball or football coach seems like a possibility. Where’s our Mark Cuban?

Oh..................oh wow. UMass should jump on this immediately. Richard Pitino brought in some excellent recruits to Minnesota out of all places and he hung in there, the Big Ten is not an easy conference to coach in and I thought he actually did a solid job there.

$2.2M/year at Minnesota. Interviewing with U New Mexico. Which pays at 1/4 of that.

They're no fools, jumping right at the opportunity. Bamford has his head in his ass the moment.
