And Dibaji has the potential to give us a big night here and there. But I could see this team having a bunch going off on various nights, and I see that as a good thing. All for One

Its going to take everyone playing to their strengths, for the team, to have a good season. Have to say, I like the makeup of the players to play that way, although I don't know much about the new guys. I will be there again this season to give them my support
I think Rich Kelly might be our second or third best player. Borderline dominate in the MAAC and was really solid for BC before he got hurt. Our backcourt is loaded.

Agreed. We need 4 of the 5 front court guys to play better than they have in the past, either here or at their previous stops. None of them are proven scorers or rebounders in DI except Steadman. Here are their DI career averages:

Walker 4.6 points, 1.9 rebounds
DD 2.5 points, 1.1 rebounds
Buttrick 1.9 points, 1.8 rebounds
Jones 2.3 points, 2.5 rebounds at JMU (13.8 and 7.6 at DII SCSU)
Steadman 12.0 points, 7.3 rebounds (If he can duplicate that here I will be thrilled)

Santos is the next tallest player at 6'6 and we can't honestly know what to expect from him this year. I am very concerned that we will get killed at the 4 and 5. We have a lot of good guards/wings and they'll have to score a ton.

Yes, that is seemingly a very weak front court. Curios roster. I assume we plan to play 4 or 5 guards much of the time and maybe that works because our guards and wings are very good. And I have said it before, but McCall does better with a tighter rotation, so I don’t think we necessarily need a lot of depth down low. Maybe the 5 listed forwards are expected to do nothing but play good D and try to rebound. I really like Walker and am hoping DD finds his game, but neither of those guys are bangers. I also like Santos a lot but he has missed a year and he’s a classic swingman not a 4 by any means. All the transfers - forwards and guards alike- are suspect. I don’t have any faith in guys who are on their 3rd or 4th school. There’s a reason for that. Give a nod to McCall for keeping a very solid core (Noah, TJ, Garcia and McCrory) but the off season moves feel very much like year 2 and I thought everyone, including the coach, agreed that did not work. It would be good to see an article or interview with Coach McCall to see what the thinking and plan is for this roster.

I do believe McCall offense flows better when not having a post dominant big be a focal point of the offense. Malik Hines fit better than Holloway and while tre was great never felt like McCall really wanted to force the ball to him like probably should have

Which is pretty much the same baffling decision DK made his first season with Lowe and forcing the DDM on him. You adjust to your best players, especially when one happens to be a generational talent.

I agree. Wonder if that may have played into Tre's wanting to leave. I'm sure TB wanted the ball to go thru Tre most possesions and maybe MM wanted to speed things up. If everyone was so tight, seems odd that your best guy would want to break that up and leave when you can see the team starting to really come together.

I mean, the ball did go through Tre on most possessions, to the point that opponents expected it and schemed to stop it.

I don't think McCall is alone amongst coaches in his thinking and approach of wanting to implement their preferred system, and not have their offense be rather one-dimensional. Arguably, UMass' best performance of the season came with Tre not in the lineup.

Plus does he think he will get more touches on a better team with other good options? Its wierd he hasn't gone anywhere yet.. Tony must not be as popular as he thought he was...

No arguement there, but at the same time wins keep the paychecks coming. Tough balance there to do both. Thing that baffles me is that if Tre felt he couldn't reach his potential here, does he not have the confidence in TB to develop him to get there?

Do we really know why Tre left? For me, that's one of the biggest unanswered questions of the off season. Ronnie posted a few comments and they gave us a clue on his thought process. We have all speculated about Tre but as far as I know, Tre has not said anything.
