Only thing that makes me thing he won’t transfer is that he is on the path to graduating with 2 degrees by next winter so he could grad transfers with 2 years of eligibility. Of course the staff cba kind of strongly suggest he goes

UMass's Matt McCall has promoted Brian Grossman to assistant coach. Grossman was previously in DOBO role. Former GA for Bobby Hurley at Arizona State.

Not sure where to put this but I'll be interested in your thoughts. Interesting topic for sure.

Love it. That's a cool outside the box idea and I'm sure the players welcome it. I'm 100% on board with allowing players to profit from name, image, and likeness. I've never understood why they can't make some money while playing college ball. Doing some local commercials, having an off-season basketball training camp with kids, whatever the case may be, they should be able to do that. Maybe someone smarter than me can figure out why 19-23 year olds shouldn't be able to make some money while playing college basketball. I did it when I was at UMass, I don't know why they shouldn't be able to.

The problem has always been that the schools with deep pocket donors will just buy players and those, like UMass, will not be able to compete. The NCAA would never have a problem if kids ran a legit camp or something similar...what they have no way to control is a bunch of boosters paying 10-20k each to a top player to advertise their company/product/service etc. The President’s of the schools, who vote on this, have been against this as they see an end to college sports if it passes.

I agree with that premise and it could take a turn for the worse, but there are only so many roster spots on each team, and there are a lot of talented players out there. Also, there is already a lot of this going on under cloak and dagger, see Sean Miller and Will Wade, among many many others, so this just brings it out in the open.

I hope this doesn't bring a political turn to the conversation, but frankly, I think it's un-American to not allow adults (because legally these players are adults) to earn income. I did it while I was at UMass, and they should have that right as well.

Nope. There is a thread in the General Discussion forum about it.

Wow. Well, small private schools are having enrollment issues and resources are getting stretched thin.

Hartford's center, a 6'10 soph from the Czech Republic, Miroslav Stafl, entered the portal today. He's not a superstar, but he did average 10.3 and 5.5 in 26.5 minutes this year. There 2 leading scorers are both senior guards so they aren't anyone we need. Oh yeah, we need a big.

Hartford was very solid at recruiting Europeans. They had a commitment from Filip Petrusev before he decommitted and became a great player for Gonzaga, and future NBA pro.

Stafl would be a great get for UMass.

The A-10 / Mountain West series won't happen in 2021-22, per Rothstein.

His wording makes it seem like it's not entirely dead, but it got postponed in 20-21, now again in 21-22. Wondering if the two leagues will try again for 22-23.
