Game 14, 2020-21: Saint Joseph's (A10 Rd2 3/4)

Post by MikeUMA » Wed Mar 03, 2021 9:21 am

Placeholder for our Thursday game, 1 PM on NBCSN.

We'll face the winner of Saint Joe's / La Salle. They play at 11 AM today on ESPN+.

SJU, after mostly a horrific season, finally found their groove, winning their last 3 (vs La Salle and Dayton, at Richmond). La Salle has lost 5 of their last 6, by an average of 11 points.

Vegas calls that SJU -2.

We had our SJU game cancelled.
We went 2-0 vs La Salle. 85-66 at Gola in December, behind Tre's career day (37). 83-67 at Mullins in January, with a balanced UM attack.

Well, it's a new season. At least that's the way I'm looking at it. Most, if not all of us are not happy with the way we played the last two games. For me it's a chance for the coaches and players to redeem themselves. They ought to be pissed at how the last two games went. We'll see.

Hoping the team responds to some of the harsh criticism we've seen here and on twitter from fans and parents.... either way, can't wait to watch them tomorrow! Always rooting for our team!

Watching the LaSalle/SJU game - thought St Joes was going to run away with it but LaSalle is leading at the half. Guess I'm rooting for LaSalle, but either way, we have to come to play tomorrow.

SJU and LAS both looking pretty good in their first half. lots of different guys hitting 3s. announcers saying they're both finally healthy. I'd feel a lot better about tomorrow if Dibaji was playing

I'm rooting for overtime. Seems like a distinct possibility.
edit: I jinxed myself.

Not unexpected, but at least they ha to expend some energy and work for it. Stop two of these three guys and we can beat them.
SJU 72
La Salle 66
Hawks out-scored La Salle 38-27 in the second half as they put away the Explorers to advance to face #5 UMass tomorrow at 1:00 at the Robins Center. Ryan Daly with a game-high 23 points, with 17 from Jordan Hall and 12 from Taylor Funk.

No Hawk. Must be a shoulder issue.

OC has been touting the x factor Ryan Daly for a while now. So, I'll take his advice on the outcome tomorrow. What say you, OC?

It's nonsense to root for the team who'll be the "easier" team to beat for us! In my 50+ years of following sports the determining factor is always "how you're playing not how the other team is playing (luck withstanding), I expect SJU to win(they're playing well) and most likely to defeat us as one bracket I saw predicts . . . we'll see.

^ We match up better against some teams. I think Daly and Hall pose a real problem for us, whereas we seem to match up well against LaSalle.
