We need someone who can recruit the prep schools in New England and hopefully has connections in the NY/NJ area. From a teaching perspective, we need a big man coach. Both of our current assistants were guards.

OR, do you think we can get the Brewster Academy coach and have him bring his 5 best players?
If MM wants to go with experience he could look to someone like Will Brown, recently released by UAlbany but a successful track record. If he wants to go with young up and comer, maybe Alex Popp formerly at VT Academy.
If some fans found TB unlikeable, Popp would put that to shame

Yeah, we don't need another snake oil salesman in that role. Will Brown would be an excellent choice.

Totally agree. this University is developing a bad reputation with all the changes. Would you like to go to a job where there is a lot of turnover, it sets off red flags.
Go UMass!!

We have been overlooking the most obvious candidate for assistant coach, Tyrone Weeks. He has been an assistant at URI and SBU among others and he can coach the "bigs". He's loyal to the school and he has another son or two who are pretty good at BB.

All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

My suspicion is that McCall might just promote Brian Grossman to assistant.

I don't know if he's interested either but this isn't the same as TB. Lots of schools have had the son of a coach on the roster. With Tyrone's connection to UMass I don't see a problem.

True not the same but I rather just avoid any potential problems

The team already has that with the current coach and roster turnover.

You know who else is really unlikable - Bill Belichik.

I am certainly not endorsing Popp - but if he can put a winner on the floor - almost NOBODY will care if he is unlikable. If you are going that route, you might as well try to get that fucking asshole Crypt-keeper Pitino in here.

Let’s hope both UMass and Albany have success and that it eventually works out for him to get back home. The perceptions of the TB scenario have done more than a 180
