Pierre scored 30, with 11 rebounds, in a game tonight. Unfortunately, he was called for a charge with 27 seconds and later missed a desperation shot with seconds left that would have tied the game. He was 6 for 11 on 3s.

Carl also set the season record for 3s at Rice:

I watched a little of that game last night, Carl was on fire. Reminded me of his freshman year here.

He's shooting 41.9% from three on the year. Not too shabby at all. What a great guy, I'm glad he's having such an excellent season. Year by year, his three point % has been:
2017: 47%
2018: 38%
2019: 34%
2020: 33%
2021: 42%
Career: 39%
2017: 47%
2018: 38%
2019: 34%
2020: 33%
2021: 42%
Career: 39%

I think Carl felt the pressure of being the shooting threat his last few years with us, at Rice he has his buddy Travis Evee to help carry the load.Juice Stand wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 9:40 am He's shooting 41.9% from three on the year. ^ I totally agree. I don't think he just suddenly forgot how to shoot in his last couple years here, it was definitely some pressure. I first noticed it when TJ started his 2019 season off red hot and Carl probably felt some pressure as a junior to "keep up" with those hot shot freshmen.

^ Juice - Good timing on your post - I just saw this a while ago:
TJ Weeks @TJ_weeks35 · 50m
I’m still a better shooter @_CarlPierre_
Rice Men’s Basketball @RiceMBB · 16h
Carl Pierre is on fire! He has 6 3's, including 4 this half, and with his last 3, he now has 90 on the year to set the Rice single-season record!

Ha! That's awesome. Two UMass greats right there. I hope TJ has the good fortune to play on a winner before he's all done here.

Good to see them having some fun with each other. I hope Freddie Riley chimes in

And he was found by Matt McCall when nobody else was looking / wanted him. Either blind luck or a credit to Matt's player evaluation skills...

Brian Grossman was connected to his AAU team and they turned him on to Pierre, who was headed to Prep School and not D3 as someone wondered
