Updates on Former UMass Players Still Playing College Ball

Post by natwam2547 » Sat Nov 28, 2020 9:49 am

I could have sworn there was a thread already dedicated to this topic, but I could not find it.

I posted already in the Sy Chatman and Sean East threads, but figured with so many former Umass players still playing elsewhere, it'd be easier to just consolidate at this point if anyone cares (which I know some do not, which is fine).

Keon Clergeot (SE Lousiana) - Played 39 minutes in a 67-63 loss to Purdue Fort Wayne. Shot 2-15 from the floor and scored 9 points with 6 rebounds. 4 steals 0 turnovers though.

Sean East (Bradley) - Averaging 7.7/4.7/5 in the team's first 3 games in which they are 2-1 and almost beat Xavier.

Samba Diallo (Manhattan) - No games played yet

Tre Wood (LIU) - No games played yet

Tyrn Flowers (LIU) - No games played yet

Sy Chatman (Illinois State) - Will sit out the 2020-21 season

Unique McLean (St. Francis BKN) - No games played yet

Dejon Jerreau (Houston) - Averaging 7.5/6.5 in the team's first 2 games in which they are 2-0.

Brison Gresham (Houston) - Averaging 3.0/6.5

Chris Baldwin (Texas Southern) - Played 8 minutes in a loss to Washington State and recorded just 2 rebounds. Took 4 shots, all 3's, and missed them all.

^ Nice job consolidating this info. A note on Sy Chatman. He did get a waiver and is eligible to play this season. However, the issues that he had last year with us seem to have resurfaced.

Transfer forward Sy Chatman didn't play for @Redbird_MBB on Wednesday. "Sy has to be better in practice," said ISU head coach Dan Muller. "He has to buy into what we're talking about and be on time to everything,"

Thanks for the info. Gresham's been a bit of a disapointment.

Gresham is being Gresham, we have always overhyped him here.

thanks for consolidating this information. Wondering how many are starters now? My guess is that most are or will be, with the exceptions being Chris Baldwin and perhaps Tre Wood.

^ I've never been to the site before, but I've "reached my article limit." Can you summarize?

Flowers (LIU) - first 2020-21 game 12/8 - started 31 of 32 in 2019-20 (missed senior night)
Wood (LIU) - first 2020-21 game 12/8 - did not play in 2019-20
Gresham (Houston) - has started 3 of 3 this year, next game 12/5 - started 11 of 31 in 2019-20
Jarreau (Houston) - has started 3 of 3 this year, next game 12/5 - started 17 of 30 in 2019-20
Clergeot (SE Louisiana) - has started 2 of 3 this year (incl tonight), next game 12/3 - did not play at SELU in 2019-20
Diallo (Manhattan) - first 2020-21 game 12/3 - did not play at MU in 2019-20
Chatman (Illinois St) - has started 0 of 1 games this year, next game 12/2 - did not play at ISU in 2019-20
East (Bradley) - has started 3 of 3 this year, next game 12/1 - did not play at Bradley in 2019-20
Jackson (SW Florida State - JUCO) - first 2020-21 game undecided - did not play at SWFSC in 2019-20
Baldwin (Texas Southern) - has started 0 of 3 games this year (incl tonight), next game 12/3 - started 4 of 30 in 2019-20

So there you have it. One hour of totally wasted time - thank you COVID.

Not at all wasted. Rather, an act of generosity. Much appreciated.

Sorry, yeah, they're stingy with the free content.

Basically said that he went pro and didn't get good feedback at all, and now he has a new dedication to work on the stuff that the scouts told him to, particularly on D.

To paraphrase Sampson, he's got athleticism and smarts, but does some real bonehead things sometimes, probably because of stuff that Kellogg taught him (jk about the last part).

Clergeot had a nice night leading his team with 16 points in a losing effort (Cal Baptist 83, SE Louisiana 66).

^Sean East is also playing very well for Bradley. 15 Points, 6 Assists, 4 Steals today! Really liking Bradley's new back court of Sean East and Terry Nolan (formerly on GW).
