does not impact that at all...the statement said - and I'll paraphrase since I don't have it in front of me...'while severe, it does not significantly impact the programs involved as long as they do what they are required to do over the next two years'

Pretty sure if they were banned from possible NCAA tournament, that would be considered significant.

No postseason ban. Sanctions are listed in a link on the 1st page of this thread.
Two years of probation, from Oct. 16, 2020, through Oct. 15, 2022.
A $5,000 fine (self-imposed by the university).
A vacation of records of contests in which student-athletes participated while ineligible.

According to the NCAA, our record book goes to:
2014-15 0-32
2015-16 0-32
2016-17 0-33

I noted it on the season pages, but I'm not changing the records beyond that. All this for self-reported minor clerical errors for benefits the student-athletes didn't realize they were getting. Horseshit.

Yet North Carolina, for decades, had basically fake classes for all of their athletes and didn't get shit. Should have gotten the death penalty for all sports, but what would that have done to Dean Smith's legacy? Can't have that now can we NCAA!!

Thank you for the clarification. I didn't realize post season was still ok during a probation period.

It was the most minor of infractions from a past administration. I hope recruits see that as the past and shrug it off.

It's a big nothingburger. I doubt rivals in recruiting would even use it as a talking point against us. Pretty much everyone knows these NCAA findings are bullshit.

Sorry, but I beg to differ about this being a "big nothingburger", at least with respect to the impact on the women's tennis team that was stripped of its A10 championship over VCU. I was at that A10 tournament in Orlando, and I'm also a good friend of Judy Dixon, the former coach. I will never forget the joy everyone felt when the final match was completed and we had won the championship. I can also tell you that Judy and her players are more than upset and angry about the ridiculous penalty imposed on the team for a tiny financial infraction that no one knew about and that provided absolutely no competitive advantage for our team.

The Tennis infraction thread is in the Other Sports forum. People here are mostly referring to the bball infractions. I concur, though, that the tennis thing is a huge deal and massive overreach.

So you had the moment, you had the celebration, you went to the tourney. None of those memories can be taken away. THE NCAA a bunch of jerks punished you for something. BFD.

In 1996 UMass, went to a final four. Per the AP in May 8 1997 article was stripped. The banner is still up, the memories still live, and in the media guide (05-06) it talks about a NCAA Final Four (albeit with an *) and the full record.

Has pip or Trey or anyone else on those hoops teams been contacted about how they feel about being on 0 win teams?
