Maybe it's a late addition, or just not on the posted schedule for some reason?

^ Would be pretty odd for the site to be that wrong (times, participating teams) only a month away from game action. And teams don't play 3 games at the event. Some play Friday and Sunday, that's really it. Most play only 1. I think there's a little bit of a miscommunication here.

I am super jealous.... That was a great run of players.

Ron Guidry was as untouchable as any pitcher I can remember then or since (I am a little too young for Bob Gibson and Koufax)
Guidry’s 78 season was as good of a season as any pitcher ever had.
We saw some great things:

Opening day of the newly refurbished Stadium.
Chambliss’ walk-off in the ALCS in 76.
Reggie’s 3-HR game in the 77 Series.
It rained Reggie Bars Opening Day 78 after he hit a homer in his first AB.
The 77 All-Star game.
George Brett hitting 3-HRs off Catfish in the 78 ALCS. KC lost 4-3.
Nettles’ performance at 3rd to save Guidry and the Yankees in game 3 of the 78 Series.

Great memories! 8)

Good point. If someone is considering going they might want to reach out to Robert Davis' school, or the Hoophall organizers, for clarification.

Yup I remember all of that too. I was 10 but I remember all of it!

The only major bad thing was Munson.... Loved that fucking guy. My second favorite Yankee after Don Mattingly.

Oh yes, the Pats!!! My favorites were Steve Grogan and Drew Bledsoe. I'm not a big fan of Brady, you'll have to forgive me. Love that Kraft brought us championships but I'm not a fan of a couple of his friends. Honestly, I spend more time in a week following UMass hoops - even in the off season - than I do watching Pats games now. Of course, in NY, we don't get many Pats games - lot of Bills, Jets, Giants and Eagles and I couldn't care less about them.

I'm really excited about this Davis kid we recruited for next year. I know the kid in Brewster is only getting PT for the second team but I think he might surprise us eventually. I just don't expect a lot his first year until I've seen him play against stiff competition. I'm sure he gets a lot of practice time against the main Brewster squad but I am not going to make anything of his stats on the B squad.

^^^^ Munson’s premature death was very sad. I’ll never forget Bobby Murcer’s performance…driving in all 5 runs in a come back, walk-off win over the Orioles…in the Yankees’ 1st game after the funeral, where he broke down while delivering the eulogy.
I think the game is on YouTube and every so often ESPN shows it in one of its channels.

The Yanks and the football Giants…cuz I’m old enough to remember when the Pats didn’t exist…are my NY teams. Otherwise, I’m all in on Boston teams!

I started to follow the Pats when they worked out at UMass before the 1970 season.

I saw somewhere there is a Hoophall Prep Showcase at the MM Center the same weekend as Hoophall Classic at SC. I assume that’s where Robert Davis So Cal Academy is playing.

How many guys will we lose from this years squad? Kante and Martin are definitely out of eligibilty and I suspect Woodley will not be back

My guess is that Fernandes and Weeks may not be back and any or all of the current Freshmen could leave. Dominquez could also leave.

Hopefully one of the new recruits is a true Pt Guard. I would target the portal for a seasoned pt guard as well.

Anyone could leave at anytime. It’s on Martin to continue recruiting his roster, read the tea leaves, and have a plan B, C, and D for every position. Clearly he’s expecting departures with the amount of freshmen commits he took.

DD’s dad tweets support for Martin often and has thanked him for helping DD mature, etc. I think he stays. It’s really hard with all the extra year from Covid players out there to know or see what could or will happen.

Good find. You nailed it. Some of these time frames are weird still with games starting at 1 and 1:15. Maybe they are splitting the court in half or something. But this is definitely where he will be.
