2023 Recruiting
Re: 2023 Recruiting
Jayden's game earlier today:
Re: 2023 Recruiting
Floyd, you know I have your back.
Re: 2023 Recruiting
Appreciate you
So we have 4 coming in right? Only Isaac and Brandon def out of eligibility. Assuming Woodley doesn't come back, still 1 more departure is necessary correct? Or did we still have 1 scholarship available ?

Re: 2023 Recruiting
If Woodley does not come back 1 more will need to go - however - I assume Woodley would be back so 2 will be more likely.
I've been doing some research on the Covid Senior rules - someone told me that if for example Noah decided to come back and take advantage of the covid year that his scholarship would not count against the cap of 13. I have found a lot of conflicting information. Some articles I read said this was the case - partly due to recruits committing years in advance and since nobody could have predicted what happened it would leave coaches scrambling to figure out the roster should a senior or two take advantage of the extra year. I've also read where its still a cap of 13 - does anyone know for sure? That would obviously have a huge impact on UMass's roster next year.
Re: 2023 Recruiting
As far as I know, 13 is a hard and fast number. But you bring up a good question. Assuming Woodley doesn't come back, that leaves 3 openings. We have 4 coming in so 1 more has to leave. We also NEED to bring in a transfer center who can help out Wildens and he needs to be good. Can we find one, I don't know? But that means 2 have to go besides Brandon and Kante.
I won't speculate and frankly, I have no idea.

Re: 2023 Recruiting
I'll speculate - after today seeing Gianni throw a fit on the bench after being taken out after he clearly lost his man on D twice in a row and then for Frank to say after the game that in the past if a kid didn't play D you would sit, now they pout and hit the portal. Pretty clear who that was directed at.69MG wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 6:58 pm As far as I know, 13 is a hard and fast number. But you bring up a good question. Re: 2023 Recruiting
I would say it this point in time it will always be 2-3 guys at least that transfer out from almost every team. I would expect that to happen here as well.

Those interested in seeing Mayhew in person and can get to the Pittsfield Boy’s and Girls Club on Wednesday (Feb at 4:30 pm will get that opportunity as his Brewster team plays Darrow School, from nearby New Lebanon, NY and Chris “Mad Dog” Russo’s Alma Mater. There is an article in today’s Berkshire Eagle.69MG wrote: ↑Sun Dec 11, 2022 12:46 pm Regarding Mayhew, sometimes it works to go straight to the source. I messaged Jason Smith, the Brewster coach and asked about MAyhew. Here's his answer and what a good guy for taking the time to reply:
I see his point. If Mayhew were on the AAA team he would be stuck behind Estrella (6'11, #2 player in New England, headed to Tennessee) and only see mop up duty.Sawyer is doing well. He’s playing with our AA team this year to maximize playing time opportunities. Our AAA team is 12-0, while our AA team is 11-0. He’s averaging about 15 PPG. Our AA team has other scholarship level prospects on it too.

It is because you put the "8" there with ")" immediately after it.... that's the long form of the "Cool" emoji on this site.TruBluMaroon wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 10:36 am FEB 8. - tomorrow / shows that way on original post - no idea why the arrived!
Adding the space: 8 )

Jayden's latest game. His team won 73-36 so I don't think he played a lot of minutes.
Also some Marqui Worthy news:Rivers Athletics

Tremendous win last night over Keystone Academy. Marqui Worthy and Boubacar Diatta led us from start to finish. Marqui absolutely ready to have an impact @UMassMBB led with 28 and controlled pace. Bamba 6 for 9 from three and played with poise. Bamba emerging at right time.
Re: 2023 Recruiting
Went to see Jaden Ndjigue play tonight. Not sure of point total but he looks the part. Strong athletic build. Showed some quick hands getting some steals. Also had a highlight allyoop dunk. NEPSAC class B not the highest prep level. Jayden guarded the opponent's center most of night. The bigs on both teams no more that 6-6. Impressed with his teammate Amir Lindsey. A lightning quick 5-10 guard who can shoot. He’s a 24 to watch, currently has offers from Florida Gulf Coast, Byant and Albany.

From Howard Herman of The Berkshire Eagle:
Apologies. I was unable to Tweet during the Darrow-Brewster game. FYI, UMass commit Sawyer Mayhugh had 24 points and 16 rebounds in a 61-58 win over Darrow. His fastbreak basket with 2:02 left in the second half put Brewster ahead for keeps. He can play.
