Just bumping up Javohn here to show a little praise for a pretty stellar freshman year. Thought he did a great job with extended minutes and showed us he's got lots of ability. Loved the athleticism, aggressiveness, and unselfishness. Playing alongside Noah, I'm pretty confident moving forward that we're pretty solid at pg for a few years

Re: KAEO: Javohn Garcia
He should have made the All-Rookie team. His numbers were better than a couple on the team and as good as the others. For example, based on pure numbers:
Garcia - 10.4 ppg, 2.47 rpg, 2.6 apg, 23 steals and 10 blocks in 15 games
Amzil (Dayton) - 9.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.2 apg, 11 steals and 8 blocks in 18 games
Brickus (LaSalle) - 8.8 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 1.2 apg, 45 steals and 2 blocks in 25 games
Garcia is a guard and Amzil is a 6'10 forward so the rebounds and assists make sense but Garcia was a better scorer and a better defender. More blocks than a 6'10 guy in less games.
Brickus is a guard so its more apples to apples. Garcia had more points, more rebounds and more assists. Brickus had a lot more steals but played 25 games. It works out to 1.8 steals per game and Garcia was 1.5. Oh and Garcia destroyed him with blocks

I like his game, but he needs to get better at finishing or dishing the ball when he penetrates.

Re: KAEO: Javohn Garcia
^ Since those should be the two major points of a point guard, what is it you like?
He has a tendency to give the ball up too early on the break and make an easy layup into a difficult shot for his teammates. On a similar vain, he also does not seem to be able to differentiate between guys who can dribble to finish and those who can't, which gives us the results in the last sentence.

I would think controlling the offense, decision making and dishing the ball would be the major points of a point guard. Finishing should be a major point for everyone.
I saw a lot of the same stuff in Javohn that we saw in Sean East, but East seemed a bit more refined. I think if he can get himself under control a bit more then he'll do better at all of those things. Hopefully that comes with maturity as he continues his college career.
EDIT: I also think that if he can generally show his game down, that will make the explosiveness he has much more impactful in situations.

I'm pretty confident that working with Tyson, Javohn will develop pretty well. Kid has physical tools and skills to be very good.
