To me he is a depth piece battling with woodley to back up wildens and being a rim running battle tested body to bang down low and reboundTheInsider wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 12:29 pm Here are a couple lines from the last 2 years (Hofstra/LIU) against some A10 comp, UConn, and Rutgers:
20/21
Rutgers - 7 pts & 17 boards
Bonnies - 15 pts & 13 boards
Richmond - 16 pts & 11 boards
21/22
UConn - 17 pts & 9 boards
Fordham - 16 pts & 7 boards
This isn't just some end of the bench frontcourt back-up. Isacc should solidify a pretty talented frontcourt. Like what was just said.. he's more of a 5. Elbow jumpers and post moves. He can obviously rebound better than anyone at UMass in a long time.

Re: 2022 Recruiting
He sat out a year after leaving Georgia after one year with almost no PT. He played two at Hofstra and one at LIU. I believe only one year of eligibility because he doesn't appear to have been injured while at GA. His games that year were scattered over the full season.
I will note that DK apparently let Kante shoot 3s last year, but he only made about 20%.
Kante doesn't block a lot of shots or get a lot of steals but he is capable of staying on the court without fouling out. With the luxury of three centers, he may be able to play more aggressive D when he is on the court. He gets a lot of defensive rebounds and a solid amount of offensive boards.

Re: 2022 Recruiting
One of the many many differences between DK and Martin as head coach. DK had very little structure or ability to rein players in. Guys running around putting up wild shots. Frank won't stand for that nonsense. Play your position and play to your strengths. I doubt he'll have much patience for Kante putting up 3s at a 20% clip

Re: 2022 Recruiting
Honestly if he can come in and just bang in the post to relieve Leveque who I think is going be a big contributor for us and get 5-5 and that would be greatDoctorJ wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 3:03 pm He sat out a year after leaving Georgia after one year with almost no PT. Happy we have another big body, but I don’t know how much you can play two of Leveque/Woodley/Kante together. Think there would be a lack of quickness defensively and the spacing would be gummed up offensively. Maybe a few minutes here and there but I don’t think it will work for extended stretches. I think you’re better off playing one of them alongside one or two of Gapare/Gianni/Cross.

I'm sure we're likely to get all kinds of combinations depending on the competition, the flow of the game, fouls, etc. I'm just excited about all the possibilities. Let's get the season going!

Think leveque will be a stretch 5 in a lot of sets

That would be great — if that jump shot is there. He hasn’t taken a 3 yet in a game over his career.

Fantastic rental. Will be a key part with his toughness and experience.
On the other hand, I don’t believe Robert Davis will commit to UMass.

From the clips I’ve seen of his at SC the foundation is there and what I’ve seen this off-season between some open run stuff on insta and UMass published stuff it’s looking smooth
