Donovan Clingan, a class of 2022 center from Bristol Central (CT)/Boston Spartans (MA), just picked up an offer from UMass.
He's already 7' tall and he has an offer from Syracuse. If we can get him to Woodstock for his senior year we might have a shot at landing him. Our connection is still pretty strong. McCrory transferred to Woodstock this year.

We just offered a 2022 6'3 PG named Gob Gob. I take little stock in any offers for 2022, but the name intrigued me. Clingan, who I mentioned just above, however, appears to be the real deal and I would keep an eye on him.

Here's an article about Clingan (https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... her-memory) - he sounds like a great kid (who is about to be besieged by offers), and I'd love to see him at UMass. Him coming through Woodstock, or any other prep school, might not be likely though given the talk in the article about staying at Bristol Central to honor his mom's legacy, but who knows.

^ He'd be doing himself a really big disservice if he stays there. The competition he's playing against isn't going to prepare him for D1 and beyond.

There are plenty of great D1 players that didn't play in top of the nation high school leagues. As long as he is playing for a top of the line AAU program, he will be perfectly fine.

Dude looks like he could use a reality check against some legitimate competition.

Clingan seems like a great kid so I don't want to disparage him, but I have a comparison.

When David Gibbs signed with us I was elated after looking at his star rating and the stats he was putting up. He played for The Masters School in CT, which at that time was in the lowest division of NEPSAC. I worked with a guy who ran an AAU program in CT and he warned me not to get overly excited about Gibbs. He was a 6'4 PG playing against teams that had centers that were 6'4 and was able to dominate. This guy told me that his handle and outside shot weren't good enough to be a starter on a decent A10 team. We saw how that turned out. He ended up at Mt. Ida and then at West Texas State.

I understand Clingan's desire to stay where he is, but a year of high level Prep ball would help him a great deal.

While there is no doubt that he would benefit from prep, and many are recruiting him including Woodstock (NMH might have the best shot if he were to leave), this is not a David Gibbs situation. He will be recruited by the highest level by the time it is all said and done and he will contribute (dominate is still a wait and see) no matter if he stays or goes prep. I would GUESS at this point with the limited information I have read that he will end up at UConn as he is close with his father, they are moving to the Big East, bringing in better talent and they have been on him since the new staff took over.

Kid looks pretty athletic & mobile for a 16 yr old 7 footer. Not real skinny either. I'm sure he would benefit from going the prep route, but not UConn :D

Ramel Lloyd JR
@ramellloyd22
12h
Blessed to recieve an offer from the University of Massachusetts

He's a 6'6 guard from the Los Angeles area. After watching this video and seeing the offers he already has we probably have zero chance of landing him. UNLESS we have a secret weapon, but I have no inside info on that. In any case, a really interesting video with his dad.

The competition keeps getting tougher. I think we need an NCAA tournament appearance to have a shot, but we can dream. I do like the fact that we're recruiting at this level.
Sophomore guard Ramel Lloyd added offers from Kansas and Arkansas on Tuesday, he tells ZAGSBLOG.
He broke down what appeals to him about the Jayhawks:
“The tradition,” Lloyd said. “They are a blue blood and have a history of pros that went there.”
He also broke down his thoughts on the Razorbacks:
“I love the idea of playing in the SEC and I have been a fan of coach [Eric] Musselman since his Nevada days,” Lloyd said. “I really like his coaching style.”
Lloyd, the 6-foot-6 wing from Taft (CA), also said that he will be transferring from Taft (CA) to Dream City Christian (AZ).
Since Lloyd is only a sophomore, college coaches are unable to reach out directly until June 15.
“They have been talking to my high school coaches because I’m a sophomore,” Lloyd said. “They said they love my game and offered via my coaches at Dream City.”
In addition to Kansas and Arkansas, Lloyd also holds offers from Arizona State, Dayton, DePaul, Fresno State, Manhattan, UMass, St. John’s, TCU, UNLV and USC.
According to 247Sports, Lloyd is ranked as the No. 16 small forward and the No. 57 overall player in the Class of 2022.
