To answer some earlier inquiries, I heard this at a Court Club pregame before last nights game when Bergeron answered a series of questions - I must say in a more forthright manner than the usual coach speak we get from McCall.
I think that they, and Weeks family, are confident that he will get back the year, and that this may well have been instrumental to shut him down for the season and do the surgery sooner rather than later.
In general I was very impressed with Bergeron’s dialogue and his direct response to questions. Hopefully others in the board that were there felt the same way.
He was also humerous in noting that given the looks of the crowd that were assembling at the Mullins that the majority of attendees were at the pregame.

I thought that maybe TJ was shut down after only 10 games because of the redshirt rule.

I think it is precisely because of the red shirt rule that led to this determination. One more game played would have meant he would have lost the year.

Of course, if it is a smart move to declare for the NBA draft after two or three seasons, I'm good with that. 8)

From my own experience, I’ve had surgery for a hernia before and I was back and being active pretty quickly after the surgery. The fact that the diagnosis took so long and he’s out for the season, it must be a unique hernia case.

Hoping for the best for TJ!

^ By “back and being active pretty quickly after the surgery”, do you mean D1 college basketball back and pretty active?

Maybe he was trying to manage the pain and see if he could play with it through the season, who knows. I'd say get it repaired and heal up and get ready for next year. From what we saw of TJ, its like a Christmas present getting him for another year.

LS, I've had the surgery in my 20's, and it took me a good 7-8 weeks to feel comfortable starting heavy physical activity. But theres different types of hernias and medical procedures are much better now so who knows

Like now they have anesthesia instead of Jim Beam. Not that I have anything against Jim Beam. (Sorry. don't mean to make light of your surgery.)

I've moved posts about TJ's little brother Tyriek off to its own topic:

Keep this one on TJ as much as possible.
