Yep. 100%. 100%. That’s how Texas operates. Always has. Quite frankly, I don’t understand how TB is not in on the deal..although he probably is quietly. I understand that Texas has some of the best multi-state fire insurance around. I am so glad TM, his obnoxious mom, and agent-stepdad are gone. And while they move in, my guess is Shaka couldn’t be happier than to be away from Texas and at Marquette.

Maybe we can catch TB.....or the mom....as
a Sideline Reporter or Studio Host for some of their games😁

I'm just glad it's over. It will be interesting to see if Tre ever gives a reason for leaving. He did make a comment in one of the articles I read about Chris Beard, "he's not afraid to coach you".

Following in Marcus Santos-Silva's footsteps.. Beard's had success with transfers, and he seems like a very good coach.

Hope it works out for him. Guess this thread can recede into the archives now. Coulda been something special somewhere special. Now just shuffling around, like so many..

Good luck to Tre. The game will speed up for him. I'll miss the talent. I won't miss the soap opera.
Hopefully Texas makes it into the NCAA Tourney next season. That way UMass could get a chance to meet up with them.

Thats good harbo :D

Hope he does well. Time to move on and hope UMass can gel together with all the new players and put together a winning season and we can all get back to the Mullins to see them rip off a string of W's. Go Minutemen!

Beards D philosophy is to be super aggressive on the ball and fast switches. This will be VERY interesting.

Offensively I think Tre is in for a surprise when he realizes how much of Umass’ offense was tailored for him.

Probably as close as you'll get to him ever publicly stating a reason, but that's in line with what has been discussed.

The good news for Tre is that TB won't be on the bench anymore. That should help the kid. He's still going to get the chirping, of course, which is an unfortunate aspect of his family environment.

I still believe he made the wrong decision, but oh well.

I wonder if Jeff Goodman knows more about Bergeron than most do. Or he knows exactly what we know and isn't shy about his feelings about him. But I do not think I've ever seen an assistant coach get so much attention from a national reporters twitter account than I have with Goodman and Bergeron. It's quite strange.

Good for Tre. Good luck. Peace out. Wish I could say it was fun while it lasted. Moving on.

Goodman has always seemed especially tied into the New England basketball scene, so it wouldn't shock me to hear that he knows some of the more intimate aspects of the TB stuff.

Obviously the level of competition will be raised but I think Tre has a chance to excel at Texas. Beard has brought in 5 other high level transfers:
College Fantasy Basketball
@NCAAFantasyHoop
13h
Texas Incoming Transfers:

Timmy Allen (Utah, 17.2 ppg)
Devin Askew (Kentucky, 6.5 ppg)
Avery Benson (Texas Tech, 1.3 ppg)
Christian Bishop (Creighton, 11.0 ppg)
Dylan Disu (Vanderbilt, 15.0 ppg)
Tre Mitchell (UMass, 18.8 ppg)
Texas also returns 2 high scoring guards in Ramey (12.2) and Jones (14.6) and recruited a top 30 wing in Tyson. If he doesn't get doubled and tripled as he did here, he could average 20 a game. Probably depends on how the offense flows. I do still question his defense. In any event I will keep tabs on him. Sorry to see him go but I want players who want to be here.

As a former Lorghorn Tre's leaving UMass is somewhat less disappointing. Still, I'd rather he had stayed with us.

I heard Beard gave TB a paid waterboy position to seal the deal
