It's too bad how this whole thing turned out. But hopefully it was a move that benefits Tre the most, as it should. Sure would have been nice to see him finish up at UMass tho

He played his hand and fully revealed himself to be a snake. Not surprising that head coaches don't want to bring him on staff and risk destabilizing things.

I loved my time at UMass and I wouldn’t change it for the world, because I learned so many things while I was there.

Didn’t Shaka part ways with Texas a few months before Tre made any decision?

That’s my fault, the person who told me said “the coach at Texas was told he couldn’t bring Tony on his staff” I forgot Shaka had left

Either way, probably a great thing for Texas!

NBA Draft.com has him going in the mid-second round

If he stays at UMass and is A-10 player of the year he gets a lot more press and I bet he's a late 1st round pick...now he's at Texas where he won't even be a top 3-4 player on his own team. I said it many times before...really bad career move.

Then again there are more scouts at Texas' games, better competition in the Big XII, deeper history as a school of getting kids to the NBA, deeper history as a coach of getting kids to the NBA.

I can't fault a kid for wanting to play for a National Coach of the Year over Matt McCall.

At least Texas is a virtual lock to make the NCAAs, unless the massive number of transfers don't gel at all.

ThreeManWeave thinks it'll come together and has Texas at #5.

I'm betting Tre averages 25mpg, 10.3ppg, 5.2rpg.

The last part is the important one.. the coaching.

Scouts find talent wherever it is and I do think there is value being an A10 player of the year vs. one of many good players. There is always a little mystery for a conference player of the year, that played against lesser talent in people’s minds “maybe” he can step up at the next level. In other words he hasn’t already proven he can’t.

So I think the plus for his move is better coaching, the minus is he may be exposed as just another guy that is very good, not nba great.

If he's not an NBA talent that will exposed wherever he plays. He has a better chance of developing into an NBA talent at Texas, than he ever would here.
