1. Tre left Texas because he wasn't getting enough touches.
2. Tre did NOT leave UMass because he wasn't getting enough touches.
3. Tre left Umass because Bergeron wasn't getting enough touches.
Tre got some horrible advice from the "adults" around him. Unfortunately it cost him a shot at becoming one of the best players in recent UMass history if he had stayed and now his collegiate basketball career is a mess.

Pretty confident he was in SOM here too, so from the student perspective he really screwed himself as well... he could have been setup nicely for life after basketball with an SOM degree.

If he continues to listen to the same “adults” , you might be changing mess to “over”….

^ His only chance at success (redemption) is to return to UMass and do it without TB. (Don't I wish!!!)

I wish Tre nothing but the best but I don't regret anything at this point. I'm excited for the future of this program with FM as the HC that if Tre had stayed who knows how things would have shaken out. Just don't go to URI and good luck the rest of your college career.

Wow, double whammy, very valuable degree. I feel bad for the kid. Tony B. always seemed like a snake oil salesman to me.

If he finished his degree in Texas, he is still in great shape for quality of his degree. If he goes to URI, he skunked himself.

He’ll be playing basketball somewhere for the next 15 years. I’m not sure it makes a difference what or where his degree is from or if he even gets one.

He could blow out his knee 5 minutes from now. His education matters.

And he’d be back in 8 months like 99.99% of basketball players. Its not 1970s surgeries anymore. saying he should of stayed at umass because of SOM is ridiculous. His path in life is basketball. The educational ranking of his school is no factor.

That's just silly, dogg. Ever hear of a guy named Greg Oden? His path in life was basketball.

The degree matters. Tre was a Finance major at Isenberg, then at McCombs. URI is a stellar step down.

FYI, UMass isn't the same as it was in the 70s. Isenberg finance students are in high demand and he is a soft defender that is likely going to play overseas. He's not an NBA talent and probably never will be. He was a spot starter/backup in Texas. He is on nobody's draft board anymore.

Oxen had knee trouble before he even got drafted. But yeah guys should be worried about getting hurt because of one guy 12 years ago who obviously had a genetic predisposition to knee trouble. Also, You know what Greg oden is doing now? Coaching basketball.

Ever heard of leagues outside of the NBa? There’s quite a few in Europe that pay pretty well.

I'm pretty confident he wasn't simply a Comm major, so him going for whatever degree it was within SOM showed that he valued the degree in addition to whatever path basketball was going to lead him on.

Kdogg isn't wrong... the kid is likely going to play ball for many years. He passed up greener pastures on his basketball path by leaving UMass, but he also was setting himself up for life after basketball with SOM, and ultimately he also passed up that phenomenal degree.

Maybe I will sound like the grumpy old man, but unless Tre comes back here (w/out TB) I'm not very interested in him any longer. I wish him well but that's about the extent of it for me. Water under the bridge.
