Re: KAEO: John Buggs III
It's all about what Pip wants and values. If he wants the most playing time and to finish his career as a storied, record breaking player and fingers crossed, brings UMass back to the NCAA tournament then there is only one choice. I'm quite biased obviously but I think it's the best choice. As far as exposure is concerned, he's going against plenty of high level competition both in and out of conference (see: Nevada) and is on the radar of any scouts that matter as an A10 player of the year candidate. I think playing 30 minutes a night and expanding his game with UMass gets him more of an opportunity to play post college at some professional level. I think the risk is high he gets limited minutes as a 1 year guy at a P5.
Whatever he chooses, he's been an unbelievable UMass player and success.

Pip may also have to improve soon to get choices. Shooting below 40% from the field and <25% on 3s in the last 5 games, while turning it over 4-5 times/game (assist to turnover 1.36) against not-top competition. vs. Temple was obviously the worst of it; the last play sticks in the mind, but shooting 3 for 15 (1 for 8 on 3s) won't build the resume for a higher level. He's been absolutely great and seemed to have advanced in many ways (e.g., leadership) but probably needs to be consistently brilliant to be sure about improving his career beyond UMass.

Poor John Buggs. His thread is all about Pip!
Hope in 3-4 years were talking about how good Buggs has been like we are about LuWane.

Love the name Buggs!
Looks pretty explosive on YouTube. Hope he develops into a good one.
I have high hopes for Woods too.

Re: KAEO: John Buggs III
If there are too many Buggs in the Woods just use a little Hot Shot from Lowes. Sorry, that was pretty bad.
Re: KAEO: John Buggs III
Buggs Twitter feed reads like a UMass run account. Really seems to be following everything. Hes positive and and excited. Good to see.
Re: KAEO: John Buggs III
Yeah, he's excited because watching these games he knows he's going to get plenty of pt as a freshman.

Re: KAEO: John Buggs III
Buggs just retweeted Weeks statement as soon as it was posted. Nice to see.
Weeks statement talks about "joy" and "life long dream" to play for Umass. Really heartfelt statement.
Also, the Buggs thread was buried. Forgot how good he looked. His development and support s so key now.

Re: KAEO: John Buggs III
So is Buggs our point guard next year, (along with Clergeot)?
I see him listed as a point guard, although seems like people have commented he is more of a combo-guard.

Re: KAEO: John Buggs III
McCall has two more scholarships to offer. Presumably, one is going to Tre Mitchell. The other is most likely going to a point guard.

Re: KAEO: John Buggs III
Buggs himself said he is a combo guard when asked on Twitter. Doesn't mean he can't run some point from time to time, but he is not the PG of the future.

Re: KAEO: John Buggs III
Does anyone have an update on his status after that injury?
