Just to follow up on this. I wasn't denying that Sy looked bad out there, in fact I've stated many times on this board that he just didn't look ready in the games he played. My response was about a poster essentially blaming the 6-game losing streak on Sy, which is unfair. Hardly anybody played well in that stretch, including Tre (lots of turnovers and not great rebounding at times), Samba disappeared offensively, Carl lost his shot (found it against Yale), etc. Sy actually looked pretty darn good against Rutgers. The whole situation is unfortunate and I hope this team can start getting some bodies back ASAP - starting with Dibaji and TJ, to be followed soon by Kolton.eldonabe wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2019 10:18 am+2LS71 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2019 9:45 am+1JoleonLescottsHair wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 7:31 pm
He may not be THE reason, but they haven’t been the same since he returned and, quite honestly, he has been pretty terrible. At minimum, they win the St. John’s game if he wasn’t in there. He also basically threw away the ball against S. Carolina and did little against Yale. It seems likely that the weird delays over his returning to play or not might have been a negotiated return. Whatever he was going through personally, the staff must have had at least some doubt over his ability to contribute and were waiting to see if he was ready. Thus, the ever shifting time line of his return. The ripple effect has been obvious. Samba’s play has suffered and Santos and Baptiste’s minutes have gone down. I met his mom in Vegas and she was great and I love every dude who puts on the UMass jersey, but it seemed clear rather quickly this season that he was turning into a bit of a poison pill, his fault or not.

Re: KAEO: Sy Chatman
more convinced now than ever that Sy was an issue in the locker room after listening to McCall on the ride home from game. He said they had a lot of distractions the last 48 hours, no doubt referring to Sy, but they were back to having fun again! That to me is pretty telling statement.I know it's easy to have fun when you're winning, but 7 guys on the bench dancing, having fun was great to see again. These guys were genuinely happy for CJ when he scored...never saw that excitement for Sy, nor did I see that excitement from Sy when someone else scored. I know they'll struggle in conference play, but I'm convinced they are a better team without Sy. Two weeks ago I was convinced Clergot would grad transfer, now I'm not so sure. He is another one that seems like he's having fun...and does he really want to go to three schools in 5 years? He's not a great offensive player, but he's the heart of the team...he does so many things that don't show up in the box score...I really hope he stays next year.

Re: KAEO: Sy Chatman
I love how Keon plays but are we really going to go into next year with 1 big?? Dibaji is 6'9 but he seems more of a 3 or 4 and would probably start along side Tre.. who backs Tre up?

are we sure Dibaji is really 6'9? he's so thin, can't see him playing 4 let alone the 5.TheInsider wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2019 6:55 am I love how Keon plays but are we really going to go into next year with 1 big?? In the team photo hes as tall or maybe even be slightly taller than Tre. Hes a 3 or 4.. that's why we need another big next year.

Respond to one of his posts in any thread... maybe he has the notification emails set up and he'll know to check out the board.
Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades

My guess is that academia and qualification may be an issue, but only a guess.
