cant emphasize enough how all the guys contributed. Unique and yes CJ w/ their rebounds. guys are finding their roles which is so important. watched McCalls post game. He is friggin awesome!! I hope the students can rally around this years team and start filling the sits. All of the players and McCall
should get their support.

I remember that Oklahoma game. I had a lot of work colleagues from OU at the game and I asked them if OU understood that the goal of the game was to put the ball in the net! They were stunned. Great memories. Just like this LaSalle game!

Wasn't that tip to Lou against Arkansas the season after they won it all?stevemaz wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 7:20 am what a game! on a side note, I am not sure I have ever seen 5 guards vs 5 guards on the floor, which made the game so much better to watch.
Also, my favorite Herndon play was the reverse lay in alley oop vs Kentucky and just winning virtually every opening game tip vs much taller guys, especially the one in Splfd vs Oklahoma leading to a Lou Roe dunk.

That just shows the players what they can do when they buy into what the coach is trying to get them to do. I am sure that we could see a few more surprise games this year. Got to be a great confidence builder.

We have the guards cooking, now if we can get a big going....

Need to get RH to buy into the coach and do what he is supposed to do to get off of his suspension.

Incredible game. Shades of 89-90 with this team.
Will had a highlight every game, but my favorite was at URI. Early in the game, a McCoy shot hit the back of the rim and the ball sailed almost straight up, slowly rising above the backboard. Before anyone else could react (or believe they SHOULD react), Herndon was already in the air and just seemed to keep climbing. He got one hand on the ball as it was near its apex and smoothly completed the incredible monster dunk one-handed. Kingston crowd sat in stunned silence as Will ran back on D, doing his trademark look-down-at-the-floor-while-chuckling-and-shaking-his-head. Cal used to say that Will jumped out of the building—that was Exhibit A in my book.
Number 2: Any half-court dunk started by AB.
Number 3: Any block on a player 6’8 or taller.
You could count on at least one of 2 or 3 per game.
And I’m sure I’m hyperbolizing, but that’s what the great ones make you do.

I just remember Will Herndon winning opening jump balls against our opponents' stunned centers.

I made the pilgrimage to Mullins Center last night (62 minutes from border of Worcester to border of Amherst....122 to 32 to 9..around south rim of Quabbin). Even though I graduated UMass 34 years ago for about 5 hours last night it felt to me that it was 1983. Like in Old School I was young again. We were a small but vocal crowd and helped "will" this team to victory. Drank 3 IPAs and a glass of Jack Daniel's in Amherst after the game...dragging a bit today in the reality of 2018. ALL WORTH IT!

I know it's a weekday game during winter break and we're not the top of the A10, but I think we should have been able to get ~3500 or so. Disappointed in attendance but looking forward towards improvement. They will come.
