When we went to the game 2 years ago we sat in the UMass section behinde the UMass bench. Samba was sitting in the same row and I had a nice conversation with him. Great kid.

Great day to be a Jasper. Manahttan’s Steve Masiello just news earlier that UMass transfer Samba Diallo got NCAA waiver to play this season, now lands UMBC grad transfer Arkel Lamar, per source.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

Good news for him and good luck, Samba!

Diallo is the latest player to say adios to Manhattan after they fired coach Steve Masiello

I still don't understand how a school thought that firing their head coach 2 weeks before the season started was the best move for the program. Simply mind blowing.

Only Masiello and the AD know the true reasons, and Manhattan is such a minor player in D1 athletics that it's a story that won't get much larger play. But the AD did herself no favors for getting a quality candidate to fill the permanent job. At it's face, it's a really bad look to can your coach two weeks before the season starts, when your team was picked to finish second in the league and you have the pre-season conference player of the year. It's definitely a long-game move.

IMO, the only reason this move is made is because it had to be. Some sort of scandal must have been avoided by doing this.
