I think Carl will be a solid addition to UMass, he's made great strides this season and has continued that progression into the summer.

I've seen him play twice and his offensive style of play reminds me of a Jim McCoy/Jerome Malloy type of player. To be clear I am not hanging McCoy type expectations on him. Solid three point shooter and is not afraid of contact when going to the basket.

Defensively he has long arms and gets in the passing lanes well.

From what I've heard about him he is a hard worker and a good all around person.

Welcome Carl!

Welcome aboard. Looking at this video he is more athletic and quicker than I expected. This is a very guard heavy team (if you include Miller and Franklin to fill out the roster to 11). I am looking forward to seeing what MM comes up with for a rotation. Here's the video:

Really happy about this. I have a good feeling about this kid. I'm guessing we see lineups with Anderson and Pierre playing wing or simply lots of 3-guard lineups. With the 4 big guys up front, I like what we have. Might not win a ton of games, but I feel comfortable with the 9-man depth.

Carl is in some pretty good company as a first team All Mass. selection:

Maybe it's the maroon colored glasses, but I think we may have found a real sleeper.

Welcome aboard! This is what I was hoping for, a four year contributor that can play right away for our last scholly! Sounds like another hard working kid with a great attitude. Wonderful job by McCall to fill this roster after so many departures positioning us for the future but also giving us a chance next year.

Go UMass, the new era has begun!

This was great signing. It looks to me like he plays bigger than a 6 3" guy.

This kid has me putting on my maroon colored glasses as well. First team selection while guys like Hasahn French, Taelon Martin, and Wabissa Bede are second team selections. From everything we can see now, this looks like a great signing!

I love that we have added an EMass kid! If we are ever going to wake up our fan base (questionable), this is a needed element. Carmelo and Rigo on the glory days teams aside, there was never more attention paid to our players in EMass than when Monty and Shannon and Jon were written about and talked about.

And before the comments come that say that "It doesn't matter where the players come from" - as far as fan interest and box office, you are wrong. Maybe it doesn't matter at UNC, but folks here in the Eastern Provinces really do care about out guys.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

Plus I like the name Carl Pierre. Carl is dependable, you can count on him. He is solid through and through but Pierre adds just a touch of flair and panache. This is a winning name.
