Re: KAEO: Carl Pierre
Good luck, Carl! Thanks for giving us 4 years of hard work!
Huge change for him too going from MA to TX. Glad he is using his opportunity to explore another part of the country!

Yeah I hope Carl has a good final season. Couldn't have asked for a better kid to represent UMass the past 4 years. Everything you want in a student athlete

Wishing all the best for Carl. He gave us everything he had for four years.

Former star UMass football player from the 1998 team, Brian Smith is the defensive coordinator at Rice and I hope they meet up.

Texas Boils Rice 63-0. Funny how some things stay with you all your life. That score was back in the 50s.

Could you imagine a 63-0 basketball game? That would be one for the ages.

Looks like Dayton did it back way back when. (80-0 win in 1907) I guess the seniors on that team would have been freshmen when the first Flyers took flight.

Carl definitely has his head on his shoulders right - a top 25 national university, switching to the urban Houston, TX, conference USA basketball. I hope he does well, this will be a very cool experience for him!Upstate10 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 11:47 am https://twitter.com/sean02mtm/status/13 ... 14400?s=21
Headed to Rice. I’ll be paying attention, appreciate what Carl gave to the program.

Becoming a Rice Owl reinforces the notion that Carl is plenty smart!

All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.
Re: KAEO: Carl Pierre
Might have been mentioned already, but Carl finished with 286 made 3s, second all-time at UM, to Monty Mack's 331
With Carl's truncated season this year, I wondered if he might have been able to beat Mack.
In Carl's four years, UM played 33, 32, 31, 15 games. So, let's call an average season 32 games. So, we can say he missed a chance at 17 games this season.
He made 37 threes this year in 15 games, an average of 2.47 per game.
2.47 * 17 = 42 more threes he might have made.
42 might-haves plus the 286 actual makes = 328, just short of Mack in first place.
If we had more games, we might have been more consistent, so maybe we could have squeezed out another couple wins, and that might have gotten Carl into first place. Just one more set of what ifs for this season.

Player 3FGMs 3FGAs % Games
Monty Mack 331 910 .364 123
Carl Pierre 286 745 .384 111
Ricky Harris 276 795 .347 129
Anthony Anderson 275 705 .390 107

Re: KAEO: Carl Pierre
Very durable and consistent. He played in all 111 games on the schedule for 4 seasons, starting in 99. He is 15th in minutes played per game. His 3 point percentage dropped each season but overall he is 9th in 3 point percentage among those with at least 100 attempts. As a freshman his 3-pt shooting was in rarified air at 47.2%. He was a tremendous asset in his time here.MikeUMA wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 5:09 pm Might have been mentioned already, but Carl finished with 286 made 3s, second all-time at UM, to Monty Mack's 331

Re: KAEO: Carl Pierre
He fell short of Mack's record for makes, but his career 3-pt shooting percentage is better than Mack and Harris (obviously aided by his incredible Freshman season) at 38.4% compared to 36.4% for Mack and 34.7% for Harris. He's among the best high-volume 3-pt shooters in school history. Lorenzo Sutton took 424 3's and made 42.4%, that's damn good. Anthony Anderson is up there too with 39% made in 705 attempts.

Re: KAEO: Carl Pierre
Someone help me out here - So what allows Carl Pierre to play a 5th year but not other seniors like Luka Garza?
