Derek Kellogg - LIU Brooklyn

Possible good news for UMass. I assume (I'm hoping) there is an offset provision in DK's buyout.

Derek Kellogg - LIU Brooklyn

I think there is, he wasn't technically fired he was relived of his duties which is semantics but probably important on legal terms. He is still techinically under contract at UMass just no longer part of the UMass basketball program. If another college were to hire him Umass would have to give permission and they def would so they can get the offset. At least that is how I think it works.

If true I hope DK has success there. I can definitely see him doing well in the NEC. Hopefully this would be a landing spot for Ginsburg as well.

Why is it bad for LIU? The negativity towards him I'll never understand. The guy busted his ass for UMass and did everything he could to succeed. It didn't work out but it doesn't mean it won't workout someplace else with a fresh start. Just be happy for the guy who gave Umass an honest, hardworking, and dedicated 9 years . Some of you with the antiKellogg I'l never understand. I hope he lands on his feet and has great success wherever he ends up.

Completely agree and hope he is successful and learns and improves where he was deficient. I dint get why people yearn for anyone to be unsuccessful, especially one of our own.

^^ I hope he is successful as he seems to be a great guy and will always be a UMass alum. I said it's bad for LIU because I believe he is a bad head coach and should be an assistant. They fired a coach that went 20-12 last year. There is a difference between stating it's a bad hire for LIU and most likely a downgrade at head coach for them and not wanting him to be successful.

I wish DK the best but I'm doubtful he'd be an upgrade here. I don't think he'd enjoy coaching at this level. I agree he'd be better off as an AC somewhere.Apparently Babul was considered.

Don't know if Chaz would want to get into coaching, but DK at LIU could possibly lure him back home to Brooklyn to start a new career from the bench.

This is the type of job that DK should have taken as his first HC experience.

Maybe working at this level enables his growth...get the kinks out.

He did everything right except win while at UMass. Maybe figures that out here.

Good luck , DK! I wish you success!
