personally just completed a successful stint with NE FAT Loss. Holloway should definitely do something like this program because he would lose 40lbs in 6 weeks easily.

I agree with everything you said, but we have been saying that about Rashaan for as long as he has been here. I've posted it before, an in-shape Rashaan who can play 30 minutes a game this year probably puts us in the top 3 of the conference.

Yes, you have. I'm just thinking how good he , and UMass, could be with this cast and it would be an incredibly big leap like you said. I'm ready

30 would have been great this past season. Even if he's in shape, I'd be surprised if he averages more than 20 minutes a game this upcoming season.

He can be his weight and still be in shape. Shaq was in the 340s when he was with the Lakers and he was absolutely in shape.

And no, RH is not Shaq, I realize that.

Sorry in advance if seeing this thread pop up gave anyone a heart attack...

Coach McCall made an appearance on the "40 Year Coach" podcast with Adam Stanco. The interview lasts about an hour and goes through his entire coaching career. The last 20 minutes or so specifically talk about UMass. Definitely worth the listen.

^ Absolutely listen to at least the last third. Very interesting to hear Matt's take on fielding team last year after seven guys left.

Learning about his years with Billy Donovan is also a good take, but the whole thing lasts most of an hour.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

Really awesome video interview with the ADs of UMass and VCU.
https://vimeo.com/303948837

Bamford says they're looking at VCU and Dayton for models of sustainability. Which I love.

But then just after the VCU AD says something along the lines of trying to keep the winners there for longer. Referring to the success of Mark Few, Jay Wright, and Gregg Marshall. And he makes a point it's his understanding that Bamford believes McCall will be like that.

Strange. I've never spoken with McCall personally, but I can't see him sticking around long if he's successful. He just seems so high energy and ambitious. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've gotten to know Coach McCall a little better and he's a really solid, honest guy. All this talk about keeping him at UMass long term is absurdly premature. However, if he takes our program to a level where I am confident he eventually will, the power conferences will come calling with offers that will be hard to turn down. That's the reality of big-time college athletics, and that's the reason I didn't join the few who booed Travis Ford on his return to the Mullins last season.

The guys at busting brackets ranked every head coach in D-1. Matt McCall came in at #132, four spots ahead of Chris Mooney and 2 ahead of Brian Gregory. Coach Cal comes in at #4 with a more detailed write up.

For those sitting at home with nothing do (probably most of us) and for those interested In the basics McCalls offense he’ll be speaking as part of this free virtual coaches clinic. Lots of other coaches doing their thing over the next few days for those like me who also coach or are just interested in these types of things. Free, you just have to register.
