Inspirational Lappas Quote

Post by 78 » Mon Jan 19, 2004 9:01 am

I'll tell you. Good ole' Steve really knows what to say to get the kids revved up for the rest of the season. The following beauty is from today's Boston Globe:

"We started four freshmen. Freshmen don't know how to play defense."

So, the rest of the way, why should the freshmen even bother to try and play D, since they obviously don't know how?

Funny how the freshmen in OTHER program know how to play defense at this point in the season. Lap would be better off saying "No comment" after these games.

Yes, there isn't a coach in the land that could prevent UMass from getting run over by the Duquense powerhouse.

"We started four freshmen. Freshmen don't know how to play defense."
This is why this bum should be fired. It is embarassing having him at he helm. This is not leadership it is excuses. We have heard excuses for 3 yrs now and seen no results or improvement. This is his answer to our woes. It is also nice to note that he did not know why we got smoked to start the second half. Gee coach could it be that we always come out flat and clueless with you as coach. We are 0-7 when losing at halftime. That is terrible coaching. He makes me naucious on the sideline. He really has no clue and is almost admitting with his comments.

The state of Mass. deserves more for their money. He needs to be fired or resign immedialtely. A lot has been said about Lapas being a "nice guy". Well I now think if he does not resign and continue to show he does not deserve this job or the salary he receives. Save the little respect you have left steve and please resign.

Memo to Mr. Lappas: A freshman last year went to Syracuse and basically carried the team on his back to the NCAA title.

I'm certainly not saying any of our guys can hold a candle to Carmelo Anthony, but this "we're too young" shit is really growing old.

Have the NCAA revoke their championship - they were definitely too young to win it.

Start a Lap quote board? I liked this one from the Duquesne game:

"When is rains it pours, and it's pouring."

Thanks for clearin' that up for me bro.

This is a personal favorite coach quote of mine.
"We're trying to develop a team here, we're trying to develop a program here, so we're just taking it one game at a time."
