Should be a winnable game and we need it. Really like this team. Its not always pretty but they scrap. They play with a lot of energy and we are getting deeper every game. I'd much rather have a team that gets better and peaks at the right time than a team that peaks waaaay too early. Hopefully LSU doesn't get the same home cooking from the refs that Harvard did. Saunders got every touch foul down the stretch as our guys got pushed around....

I'm in EMass with Comcast and it is 842 for HD here. Keep looking if you can't find it.

The posters on their message board a somewhat concerned about this game. This is another tall team who hasn't shot well from 3. They average roughly 4/16 per game from beyond the arc.

I watched some of them this year.

Like last year, everything hinges on their frontcourt. 6'-8" Jordan Mickey is one of my favorite players. He's everywhere on the court rebounding and blocking shots and getting buckets from various spots on the floor. He's similar in style to Maxie but better IMO. I suspect Cady will guard him but I don't think he can keep up. Maxie might need to take him. 6'-10" Jarell Martin (injured last year) is another talented, tough matchup. He's not a back to the basket type - he seems to like to play in the open court and in the midrange area (again like Maxie) but gets a lot of boards too. I'm thinking Berger might get some time on him. They've got several other bigs that play sparingly but give them some depth if they have foul trouble. If Cady can stay with Mickey, we might be ok. If not, we're going to have our hands full with Mickey and Martin.

The guards are good but not great. Their new transfer PG Josh Gray has a good handle and is capable of making some great pays but he also seems a little undisciplined and prone to turnovers and poor decisions. He's not a deep threat and seems like he does his best work in transition. Having him has given Tim Quarterman more room to operate and he seems to be finding his groove the last few games. He's a smart guard with good size that is more of a slasher and distributor than a deep threat. Their third guard is Keith Hornsby, another big guard with a strong body that seems to make plays under the radar and is their spot up three point shooter. I think he is a JUCO transfer.

I haven't seen Bridgewater play (6'-4", 265) but he had a big game (16 point on 7-8 shooting in 22 minutes) against McNeese State when Mickey was out with a minor ankle injury. He might be another challenge for us inside but Mickey is expected to play against us.

They like to run so it should be a fun game. I like our chances but I'd call it a tossup at best on the road.

From that link, this is encouraging...
"IMO this is LSU's most glaring problem. Whether it is coaching, the players, or a combination of both, it is clear that LSU simply has no desire to try to keep opponents out of the paint. That is the case regardless of the opponent. It looks as if LSU's MO on defense is to play for a TO on the perimeter, but let people get in the lane with the expectation (hope?) that their length and height will affect/block enough shots at the rim. It was a problem all of last season, and has been a problem in the first 6 games of this year."

I only found one early line and we are 3.5 point dogs. Not bad for a long road trip. Seems to indicate that the teams are pretty equal with a few points for the home court.
