He announced on social media he is transferring to Cumberland University (TN) which is a D1 NAIA school. I had to look up what the NAIA is and D1 in NAIA is comparable to NCAA Division II.

No idea if they even offer hoop scholarships at that level but hope he finds success.

NAIA has different, some would say lower, academic requirements or standards than ncaa. He may not have been able to get into ncaa D2 school.

I don't think he ended up landing at Cumberland. He did play the early part of the 2019-20 season at the College of Wooster, a D3 school in Ohio. Didn't stay long, as he finished the season playing for Keene State (also D3) up in New Hampshire. Numbers wise, he did better at Keene. https://keeneowls.com/sports/mens-baske ... nklin/6529

This past season, Keene managed to play cobble together 9 games, but Jaylen only appeared in 2, not sure what happened there. He did get a degree though, so good on that. Still repped UMass on his cap.

I saw my first game , Julius vs Maine - late 1971 - many years ago and I have followed VERY Closely since—-but I can say I never heard of Dale Mendez! When did I miss him?

A little tip for you…if you don’t want to talk or hear about a subject don’t go into a thread with that subject in the title. That’s what I do and it seems to work great.

Also there have been four posts in this topic over the last two+ years. Doesn’t seem crazy busy to me.

I agree with Jackson, just don't click on sites for people you have no interest in. Some of us are interested and appreciate posts on earlier players, no matter how insignificant you think they are.

Dale was at umass from 99-00. Was a transfer and 99-00, and for 00-01 was on the travel roster to Marquette and Holy Cross and elected to transfer. If you search the site you'll see his name.

Well, the dates make sense.......we welcomed our third child ( all under 5) in summer of '99, so perhaps I was other wise occupied and not following the Minutemen as closely as I would. My wife will be glad to hear that!
