I remember Lari as a gifted and tough guy, with a lot of power. Dying of colon cancer in one's thirties is pretty rare, but it is more common among black folks. No idea why. Genetics can play a predisposing role, I guess.

My father died of Colon cancer, at 80. It is a very painful way to go. So, get a colonoscopy soon, sending a reminder to myself as well via this posting.

Unfortunately, many UMASS bball players have died in their 20's or 30's, going back to the 70's with Murphy and Eldridge. The list goes on. Not saying we are cursed, or over-represented, as athletes are best known and tracked, so that their illnesses are better known.

Lari - a class guy whose family could use help - let's all give.

There will also be a memorial service in Ketner's hometown of Philly. Per Matty V:
It will be held on Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. at Cedar Park Presbyterian Church on 7740 Limekiln Park.

Tough day seeing Lari put to rest. So young. But the service was amazing. And it was great to hear how he found peace w/the Lord. RIP.

Hope they do something to remember Lari this season. Tough to hear of his passing so young, and it would be cool if they did some sort of tribute

Lari's birthday is February 1. Unfortunately we're not playing at home on that date. Would have made a good day to give him a tribute.

And too bad the Coaches Vs. Cancer triple-header is in Boston, their mission is a perfect fit with Lari's battle with cancer.

Hopefully they can find a good time to do it at Mullins this season.

Any chance they would have a tribute to Lari before the UMass vs. BC game? It would be a nice thing to do and would fit the mission of "Coaches vs. Cancer" tournament.

Although I'd prefer a tribute at the Mullins Center, the BC game is far and away the obvious choice.

Nicely done moment of silence tonight. Still hope they have some type of Lari Ketner night/Cancer awareness night in his memory this season at Mullins.
