^ In other news, Trey was practicing with Al Horford and Marcus Smart (a childhood friend) today.

I liked Trey Davis. Can't remember another player in all the years I've followed UMASS hoop that put up 40 in a game, never mind I think twice he did it in his senior year. Kid had some serious range and was money at the line. Freshman year people said he couldn't play here but the kid progressed and had a nice career.

I liked Trey a lot too. He hit 40 points just once (against New Orleans). He hit 36 and 30 in other games. Billy Tindall is the only other 40+ scorer (41 in 1968). Trey tied the record of 8 3's in a game and hit 18 free throws once - just one off Dr. J's record. Trey was fun to watch.

I think the terminology you were looking for there was that Trey developed in spite of DK.

Trey is currently trying out for the Maine Red Claws in the G-League. One of 11 competing for 6 spots.

thanks for posting that entertaining article. Good writing from the local writer up there. I liked this quote about Trey: "You can’t say how he does it, but he does it"

Trey made the Opening Night roster for the Maine Red Claws. Congratulations Trey!

I believe the last UMass alum to play for the Red Claws was Stephane Lasme. Andrew McCarthy was in training camp, but didn't make the final cut for Maine last year.

I'm really happy for the young man to get to scrimmage with NBA types. He's gotta feel good about that.

Didn't Chaz or Put have a short stint with the Red Claws?
