Big Dance - Pervis Ellison Isn't Walking Through That Door

Post by Rudy » Thu Mar 17, 2011 5:43 pm

Both Temple and Richmond advance. :o

(First time Temple has advanced in ten years - they were starting to make the A-10 look bad.)

And Pitino and Louisville and the Big East, with all their invites, are shamed.

A-10 - 2-0

Good start, Good day - just hope all my bets pay off.

Also, Richmond plays Morehead, a game they can win - Richmond sweet sixteen?

One of the talking heads on espn was picking morehead to win that game last Sunday.

Note: Kevin Anderson played all 40 minutes in the Richmond win.

A few years ago I vowed not to fill out a bracket until UMass was included. I thought that was soon to come. At times, I'm seriously regretting that decision.

Saint Johns joins Louisville as part of the Big Least early exits. The only two upsets of the day and both from the Big Least.

Rub it in.

No Monday morning quarterbacking here, just curiosity. Does anyone know if UMass pursued the Boston U. freshmen point guard, D.J. Irving? 11 points, 5 reb., 6 assists - I thought he was very impressive in the first half when BU hung with Kansas, quick as hell, got to the rim and was fearless.

One of the things that always interests me is the players from lower mid to low major programs that were clearly under recruited.

A few that come to mind...

Kenneth Faried - PF - Morehead St.
Keith Benson - C - Oakland
John Holland - G - BU
Luke Hancock - F - George Mason (they were in the Final 4 recently so they might be a high mid major)

Calipari knotches another Sweet 16

The Big East Exodus continues:

Louisville
Saint Johns
Villanove
Georgetown
West Virginia

Josh Pastner survived. I dont if he and DK are close, but I want to watch him and see what he is doing with the DDM. Better recruiting than DK, but he i struggling.

Calipari stays alive.

There are a couple kids at VCU that look really talented too..I want to say the PG is Rodriguez...he is very good. They have a big man who is quite good as well.

While TF was here he recruited Rodriguez. I was very impressed with him the other night and was thinking about what might have been had he come here.

Another TF recruit was Kevin Jones for W.Va. he could have been a star here.

Difficult to compare recruiting to Umass and to Memphis...similar conferences but Memphis was a top 10 team for awhile, high major program despite the league.

Im watching Richmond on CBS fighting for a spot in the Sweet Sixteen, and it is kind of pissing me off because I know it could be UMass.

I believe he actually verballed to us and then changed his mind.
