I've been acquainted with Auriemma for about 20 years..., a friend's daughter played for him. Can't say I know him, but if we bumped into each other, we'd say "hi." Like all HCs of major programs, there is a sleaze factor. Insufferable? I dunno..., he can converse with you without getting limited to hoops, recruiting, and how much he doesn't like Tennessee, Stanford, and any school in Texas.

Peace,
Alex

His act in the media has become too much for me.

He is by far the lesser of two douchebags, though.

I agree Chris, he says his fans are spoiled and that maybe they should win more games? FU you douche...you're lucky to have a full house every night and to have passionate fans. Come up here and see what apathetic fans are all about !

I've heard that physicists at MIT are working on a equation that allows Auriemma and his ego to occupy the same space. So far, they are stumped.

The only saving grace of ucon being in the final four is that people are equating Calhoun's integrity on the save level as what is perceived of Calipari. The local DC sports station is calling the game a "Celebration of Cheaters" and the Final Four a "Cheaters' Ball" (with two Cinderallas invited). The sad part is that CBS probably won't acknowledge anything, save for a passing reference about both coaches having fallen under some scrutiny in the past. The sadder part is fewer and fewer people really care any more. Your team gets tons of exposure and a little "institutional negligence" is forgivable as long as the players obtained by those means are taking you to the Final Four. We'll all be watching Bruce Pearl going deep into the tournament in a few years. There was also the funny story about a Kentucky booster saying they are hanging up the banners with velcro. Funny, but sad.

Nice article about Cal and this year's final four. All due respect.

Lets hope that he does it by a good margin. I will be watching at my daughters in NC.

Does Butler have a chance?

Not a night of offense in both games but I thought the VCU/Butler games was a good one. Shelvin Mack is cold blooded.

Didn't really get into the UK/Uconn game even with Cal vs. Calhoun. I thought it was just ugly and for a one point games it was kind of boring.

I like Butler on Monday. Between the defense they play and the confidence they have, I think they shut uconn down. It really is fun to watch though, they just don't get fazed by anything.

Butler does not get blown out by anyone period. Matt Howard just won't let them. I think we'll all be huge Buldog fans on Monday night.

Local guy brings another NCAA Championship back home and keeps New England in the conversation. Keeps NE right there with Tobacco Road, Lexington, Louisville, UCLA and Lawrence, KS!

Good for him, his team, his University and anyone else who struggles for sports recognition on a campus in New England.

I also thought the UK-UConn game was a let down. I was constantly annoyed at the constant reference to UK being a "young team". UConn is as young or younger than UK. The block by Kemba Walker on the layup was one of the most athletic moves of the tournament. It's hard not to like Kemba Walker.

It's not hard for me not to like him. He's always grinning...pounding his own chest...etc. Is he a great player? Yes. Do I like him? Not at all. A former UConnie that I did and still like? Ray Allen. It's hard not to like Ray Allen. Class act.

That block was even more impressive since it looked like he had been injured on the previous play.
