There's a thread on Twitter where Ricky jokes that he'd be at the top of the stat leaderboards if he had played more as a freshman.
https://twitter.com/RickyHarris5/status ... 2994255873

He's kidding, probably :D , but lets play that out...

Ricky's right that he didn't get a lot of chances as a freshman. He played just 10.8 minutes per game. His final three seasons: 32.6, 32.4, 31.2, for a 32.1 average.
32.1 / 10.8 = 2.97
So, if he got the same amount of minutes as a freshman as he did in his final three years, you could multiply his stats by 2.97

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/sc ... areer.html

Scoring list
1. Jim McCoy 2374
2. Monty Mack 2183
3. Ricky 1960
Ricky's 145 points as a freshman * 2.97 = 431, which would put his career total at 2246, more than Monty but not enough to catch McCoy

Field goals
1. McCoy 876
2. Mack 766
7. Ricky 643
Ricky's 45 as a freshman might have been 134, for a new total of 732, which would elevate him to #3

3-Pointers
1. Monty 331
2. Carl 286
3. Ricky 276
Ricky's 17 as a frosh might have been 50, for a new total of 309, good for #2 but not #1

One of my all time favorites. Fearless with taking the shot and he had extremely fast release.

I remember after Harris' first year Travis Ford saying to watch out for Harris because he is possibly the best player on the team.

I went to the NIT finals at MSG and I vividly recall Ricky making 3s to keep us in the game. OSU was just too big and they wore us down. I also remember being really excited about the future of the team with a young, up and coming coach. We all know what happened after that:
Ford says he's staying
By Matt Vautour, Daily Hampshire Gazette Staff Writer, 4/4/2008

University of Massachusetts men's basketball coach Travis Ford said he did not see the fan behind his team's bench at Madison Square Garden Thursday night with the sign that read "Forget LSU, Stay at the Zoo."

But Ford's comments after the Minutemen lost the National Invitation Tournament championship game 92-85 to Ohio State should give that fan hope.

Several media outlets have reported that Ford is Louisiana State's top choice to fill its head coaching vacancy. But Ford said his focus is on building the program at UMass.

"I'm excited. I think we made great strides with UMass basketball this year and I'm looking forward to coaching these guys," Ford said. "I've heard everything you guys are hearing and it's kind of interesting actually. It makes me question other things because I haven't talked to anybody."

Asked if he planned on coaching UMass next year, Ford said: "Absolutely. We need to build on this. It's not going to be easy.

Ricky returning could become a very big deal in time.

I suggested to him that the real reason for his return is so that he can pass Monty and Carl on our three's made list. His answer: "I wish!"
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

Ricky should be a great example to these young guys about what it takes to maximize your talent at UMass. He was so consistent, never saw him down on his teamates or coaches while he was here. Always approachable, respectful and great kid. Glad he got the opportunity to play professionally overseas, and even more happy that he's coming back to the program.

Maybe now I can get a couple of the UMass game pics you could buy, signed, so I can add to my collection. What u say Ricky?

I LOVE this. Absolutely love this. I was thinking we might see this with Ty, but I am so psyched Harris will be part of the program. A great player coming home. I have grown a little weary of overused words like “culture,” but a move like this does start to show just that. UMass. This is what we want. Harris, Roe, Pierre, Harper… Those type guys are true Minutemen. IV’s bestie Tre and his agent can go as far, far away as possible

^ agreed. I had a post in another thread where I downplayed the culture on this team, or at least wasn't ready to buy into the culture building quite yet. Ricky's presence on the staff may not move the needle an iota in terms of wins, but his enthusiasm for the university is exactly what this program needs. That's culture.
