It would be nice if there was some sort of event like a meet & greet and autograph signing with the collective athletes to get people excited for it.
A lot of businesses have “Soft Openings “to get the bugs out of the operation before making an Official Opening later.
anyone remember when Cal opened up a store off campus back in the 90's - seems like it might have been in this general area

Cal's Closet, and I think it was located in one of the store fronts of Boltwood Place where the parking lot/garage is.

Here's the link to the press release: https://www.umass.edu/news/article/umas ... d-director

They're leaning pretty hard into the new "M" logo. Not a fan, I don't know why we have to switch this up all the time. Cursive U, power U, giant M. It looks like the Miami Ohio "M" logo. And once again, It looks like there won't be any consistency with the maroon/red color. It's all over the place.

Anyways, overall I'm glad to have a UMass merch store downtown.

Not a fan of the M logo, but I don't care if they win some damn games.

The M logo would be fine if we had any sort of consistency with branding.

Are you suggestion one of the top College Sports Management Programs in the country is not good at that? 8)

Are you suggesting that the School or Athletic Department has ever consulted one of the top College Sports Management Programs in the country located right on their own campus?

6 yrs on AA BOD were
100% on re not working more with the great programs we have, like ISOM Marketing, Hospitality, Sports Management.
My 6 yrs on AA BOD were a constant exrucation frustration with staff and the in crowd Exec Comm incompetence, always refusing to uyilizing our great program resources and outright lies to BOD members falsely claiming to be working with the programs when they were not...so a small #alums who were officers and committee chairs could take advantage of perks they never deserved.
RE athletics, I have my opinions. I will leave it at...
I was with Chancelor Reyes at a game and spoke with him at length re my opinions on these issues...feeling he appreciated all of it, and would act on things at the right time, some of which I am convinced has happened.
I'm not as close anymore, with the FL move, and am still in Antigua now...but will be seeing him and others a month from now in FL.
and will pleasantly bring up some things including the logo...
When the logo was changed 2003/2004, the mktg company did meet with selected alums re the changes, including me. They did do one thing I requested for the would be license plate, but the admin totally f"d it up and took 8 additional years off gross incompetence to get it out, too late...
I hate to even think about that, and will chill it off with friends soon at Happy Hour.

Thanks to all who keep up the support through the anticipation of Winning...
we do what we can, and then some.

Why do you choose to not speak up here? Are you going to get in trouble with the department? Seriously - this kind of silence is exactly why things are so slow to change and move in the Athletic Department.

This new logo is dumb at best. It certainly seems that they did not consult with their own inside resources because ther is no way they come up with a generic and very bland M logo.

Whatever - I am so fucking fed up with Bamford at this point.....

I'll put this here, but it could go almost anywhere. A General Manager for athletics? Can someone explain what this means?

From that release, it's a tech platform, not a person/position. It's not like Woj at Bona.

I bet part of the deal with the provider was that we had to put out a press release about it, and there we have it.
