DoctorJ, it's not often you hear the term obfuscates used. You can tell you're a UMass grad

This team is going to be really enjoyable and I think it'll be the most connected group we've had in a while. Cohen didn't defend well and won't be terribly missed. Cross will be but there's a lot of good pieces and depth here and they'll play really good defense. I think they can win 20+ like last year.

I agree. My top concern is 3pt shooting, but hopefully Rahsool becomes more consistent and Jaylen can emerge as a true threat. This is Frank's third class, and I think we're going to see an increased level of buy-in as he continues to put his stamp on the program.

Busting Brackets ranks Frank Martin as the #50 Div-1 head coach: https://bustingbrackets.com/posts/ncaa- ... 7529dkq/20
Re: 2024-25 Season
There will be some interesting battles for playing time. My guess right now is that Daniel starts at the 4, with Sool and Curry as the guards.
Who gets the minutes at the 5? I think Malek and Shahid split time there. Watson sems like more of a 4 and could back up Daniel. Not sure how much PT the 2 freshman bigs get, but if 1 of them shines in practice it's a 3 way race.
How does Frank utilize both Jayden and Rivera? It seems like they both fit in at the 3.
From early reports, it appears that Nate will be Sool's backup at the 2 with big jelly also in the mix.
Also, from early reports it appears that Worthy has upped his game and might be Curry's backup at the point. This is the biggest potential area of concern for me (yes, outside shooting in general might be an issue).
Lots of talent and I'm anxious to see them on the court.

DHS & Rivera and the forward spots, Ndjigue at the G/F spot and Diggins/Curry at guard.69MG wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 10:58 am There will be some interesting battles for playing time. My guess right now is that Daniel starts at the 4, with Sool and Curry as the guards.

3pt shooting could be rough, but it probably won't be all that much different from last year.
I assume Diggins is the 3rd option at PG.
I think Big Jelly is closer to a 4 than a 2.
Rivera is a weird mix as a slashing undersized 5.
Re: 2024-25 Season
Looks like we are going to be big and tall at three or four positions most of the time.
We are going to have to keep the guards healthy. Not a lot of them on scholarship. Not sure what our dept is at PG. Curry, Diggins, Worthy, Nate???

^ Agree Steve.
They're gonna pick UMass middle of the pack and say we lack star power. It's like they think Frank Martin forgot how to coach. It's about time we win the A10 again.

Those teams all stink. Would your opinion of the schedule change that much?Juice Stand wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 5:37 am It's a bit of an oversimplification to say there are hundreds of D1 schools, so we should be able to get a game. We're not going to schedule a lower conference school from across the country in December. But I agree that it's hard to believe there weren't regional options other than UMass Boston. There are so many school in the Northeast. What about Quinnipiac, Maine, Boston U, Fairfield, or Holy Cross?

Re: 2024-25 Season
Natwam, mine wouldn't change at all because I don't mind the UMass Boston game on the schedule. I mentioned that earlier in the thread. My point was that I find it hard to believe that they couldn't get a D1 game in that spot, but I'm not in the building so it's obviously pretty tough to fill out a schedule.
I'm thrilled with the schedule that they released. There's a lot to look forward to, including taking over Harvard's gym, renewing the rivalry with Temple, and going back to old foe West Virginia's arena. I'm stoked, can't wait for the season to start.
*Edit: Just for fun I looked up last years NET rankings for the teams I mentioned above, and Quinnipiac and Fairfield both won 20+ games and finished 160 and 161 NET. Not too shabby.
