Nah. The only division that had sit out year or penalties was division one. All the money, all the power was in the coaches’ hands and schools’ banks got much bigger.

My question was answered regarding Davis:69MG wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 5:07 pm 2 things.
1. Temple's top 6 players have entered the portal. Any of them could help us.
2. Robert Davis is a 3rd team all-american, but I have no idea what organization sponsored this.

He looks very active on his highlight tape. Definitely looks to play hard so I can see why Frank is interested.

Re: 2023 Recruiting
put me in the do not want him column. he averaged 4 points per game and that was with a 25 point game thrown in there - that was his only game in double figures. he also had 15 games with 3 or less points - 7 of those he had ZERO! I don't care if he is 6'11 - he will get eaten up in the A-10.
give me 6ft 8 Jordan Minor all day long over this kid

Re: 2023 Recruiting
Kid seems to be a decent rim protector and can provide some athleticism, but I think it’s hard to have definitive opinions on dudes I’ve never seen play that’s why I try and be cautious in both directions (want/don’t want).
You can look at stats and gleam a little bit. You can look at highlight videos a little bit and see how a kid moves. But the coaching staff knows/sees a lot more and you either trust them or you don’t. Will they miss? Sure. But how often do they miss — that’s the question.
As for Minor, it sounds like there are a lot of P5 schools interested in him. Not sure how much of that is legitimate but the list is long.
No idea what’s going on with the Cohen kid.
They are looking for big or two it seems. Guessing they are looking for a point guard also.
No idea how this all shakes out. It’s like the Wild West out there.

Re: 2023 Recruiting
I agree with everything Jackson said. My top choices are also Minor and Cohen but they are getting power five looks. I’m also interested in Jonathan Beagle from Albany but again getting power five looks. Would be a positive development if Frank and staff could get one of the guys however.
Re: 2023 Recruiting
At this point my assumption is that UMass is looking to have 3 bigs on the roster - the freshman Mayhugh, plus two more, whether that includes Leveque or Woodley I do not know.Jeff90 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 9:21 am I agree with everything Jackson said. Cohen and Beagle are probably my top choices, followed by Minor, and Dom Campbell... but those first three are probably going to be really tough to get. I can only assume that the plan would be for Pavrette to come off the bench as the backup big and the staff would want someone else to take up most of the minutes. Seems like Pavrette could maybe be a solid defensive big and he'll have another year to develop.

Cohen reportedly scheduled to visit UMass this weekend.

Re: 2023 Recruiting
Cohen, Minor, and a top level PG would be ideal. I'm optimistic. This staff knows how to recruit.
Re: 2023 Recruiting
To be clear, getting any one of Cohen, Beagle, or Campbell, probably precludes you from getting the other two, as I think all 3 would function as a center for UMass, and I really don't think you'd be able to convince any of them to come here in a backup role.
Minor you can probably use as a PF alongside any of the above mentioned 3, and Pavrette you can probably bring in to serve as a backup.
As stated in the post right before this, adding a top level PG is also really key.

Re: 2023 Recruiting
Get Cohen keep wildens and get one more true center you can develop. Mayhugh seems more like a dyondre replacement. Going have to run a few more guys to make the numbers up. In order to get an experienced guard and another big. By my count we have one spot open. 4 freshman commits 5 departures assuming woodley is gone
Re: 2023 Recruiting
Always a positive when guys choose to come for a visit. Cohen is looking to enter grad school and is a business major. Maybe Isenberg can lure him.

Re: 2023 Recruiting
another positive is I'm pretty sure he took an unofficial visit a couple weeks ago - my guess is he's leaning UMass - why else would you come back a 2nd time?
Re: 2023 Recruiting
I am big believer (to a much lesser extent for point guard) that you play the position you can guard. I think Mayhugh is the developmental big — not sure how much guarding you want him doing on the perimeter. Let him get stronger and play emergency minutes as needed this year.
Would be ideal if Cohen commits and they also get one other big with some experience. Whether that is Wildens who stays, Woodley who returns, or one of the other dudes they are looking at, I have no idea but that’s my hope.
Well that and a good point guard with some experience. I’d be happy with one that can take care of the ball and shoot and stay in front his man on defense.
