I'm very optimistic, but let's wait and see how it all plays out. Most of the guys that Martin has gotten have a lot still to prove at the D1 level.

I don’t necessarily disagree but some of the guys Martin has landed probably wouldn’t answer MM’s phone call.

^ You are both right. The players Frank has recruited have a ton of upside and the burning question is how much of that upside can Frank bring out. MM would not have gotten most of these guys (he tried to get a couple of them and lost).

^ FWIW, Frank Martin tried to get Matt Cross twice at South Carolina and failed both times.

Right now, there are four people making predictions on RJ Luis. All four are now picking UMass.

Well, that sounds promising. Ryan Wallen, the Temple insider previously had a Temple prediction but changed it over to UMass, and Mike Traini has joined in.

Alright, hopefully we make it official and he signs. Seems like a legit prospect on the wing that we could use.

Luis looks like a replacement for Preston. Around the same size, uses his athleticism. 247 says he has offers from Temple, Rutgers, Kansas State and VCU among others. Now let's get a big to push Wildens and we are done recruiting for this year (maybe).

It's almost easy to take for granted Frank's recruiting and the fact he is beating out P5 programs for guys. If it looked like McCall might beat out Temple, Rutgers, VCU, K State for a guy, it'd be considered huge news and a minor miracle. Now, it's business as usual.

Of course it has to translate on the court, but I'm taking a lot of solace in having a highly respected, experience coach who appears motivated to do great things here.

It is night and day. Sure, we haven't seen these players on the court yet, but there is no question that it is night and day. We are now competing against Kansas State and Temple, which is fair competition to be linked to, and we're beating them out.

With McCall, I was hoping we'd get a commit over Siena, Albany, and Bryant.

Night and day. Let's go FRANKIE MARTZ!

That's exactly what U was thinking!!!

I saw an article somewhere that projected RJ as a quality fit for the A10 but said lower P5 would be a strong possibility.

I think the only reason he slid out of P5 is his slight frame and that he's still developing. Would love to see him start to fill out that frame and add ten pounds this summer in the weight room and dinner table.

He should compete with Cairo for minutes as a wing this year. He really seems focused on his development. That's a good thing to hear. I'm interested to see what his defensive ability is like. His offensive tools look promising.

Well now I'm pumping the breaks a bit. I just watched the interview with Frank. It may have been a simple mistake in counting. He said "we have signed 7 players and we have a couple more to go". Did he just miscount, and it should be 6 signed a couple more to go? That "couple more to go" comment when we only have 1 opening gives me cause for concern. We'll see on Saturday.

I hear that. Wondering if either Cairo or DD decides to bolt.

Might be miscounting, but pretty sure FM can count.

I really don't see how DD gets any minutes 9n this team without serious improvements. He improved his strengths last season, I thought. But his weaknesses still need a lot of work, IMHO.
