Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC

Glad we took the MAC deal that has a very realistic 3-4 or more payout to each university. CFP 1.7M plus NCAA Credits, plus the 10M media contract that expires in 2026-27. Some think the contract could at least double and be closer to 2M per school with ESPN. The last renewal went from 1.3M to 8M fo...

Re: FBS, CFP, and Conference Media Contracts

College Football Playoff finalizes agreement giving ESPN exclusive rights through 2031-32 Two seasons remain on ESPN’s original 12-year deal for the New Year’s Six bowls (two of them CFP semifinals) and national championship game. As part of the deal, ESPN adds the four new first-round games involve...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC

Bamford apparently said there's potential for MAC to start soccer back up, and a couple of the MAC schools have very good programs there (especially Akron). I remember growing up and Akron was creme de le creme in college soccer - had no idea they moved to the Big East for soccer, or the MAC dismis...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC

Let's put Football and Basketball aside for a minute: What about the rest of the sports? I do not have the time to research, so I can only make a general assumption, but isn't this a step back in everything else too .... Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Lax et The only thing not touched by this is Hocke...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC

We took one step forward in football by moving back to the MAC, but we are setting ourselves way back in basketball. It is hard to be excited by this move. Maybe the athletic director knows what he’s doing and has a vision, one all of us are having a hard time seeing at the moment. We all want rele...

Re: UMass transfer portal news - 2024

We have the university, facilities and Coach Martin to sell, not to mention winning mentality! Blame the changes in the transfer rules and NILs and this stuff will probably continue. Snippet from the Gazette articles says. This is likely just the beginning for UMass considering the landscape of coll...

Re: A10 Tourney 2024

The atmosphere in Cleveland looked great.

Back to the A10, going to route for the Dukes, they never made it in the entire time in the A10, 48 years minus the small detour. Their coach also came from the MAC.

Re: MAC Teams - Present and Future

Do remember a certain Patriot TE, who was a MAC QB. This was posted on the MAC site. 2024 MAC Hall of Fame Inductees include: -- Nick Saban (Kent State - Football, 1970-72 // Baseball, 1972 // Grad Assistant Coach, 1973-74 // LB Coach, 1975-76 // Toledo Head Coach, 1990) -- Frank Solich (Ohio - Foot...

Heather Dinich @CFBHeather According to sources, Washington State and Oregon State are expecting to receive $360,000 each per year in the new contract - 1/5 of the $1.8 million Group of 5 schools would each make. Re: FBS, CFP, and Conference Media Contracts

The difference between staying independent and being in a G5 conference is 1.4M. The A10 to MAC stuff, like to say is not much difference to keep things simple. The MAC gets less NCAA credits but a large percent of the amount if not earning the credit. The Media contract is Millions more, but there ...

Re: FBS, CFP, and Conference Media Contracts

The new contract should be finalized today. The Group of 5 schools (the American, Conference USA, MAC, Mountain West and Sun Belt) revenue will increase to just under $1.8 million from the current $1.5 million. According to multiple sources, AAC commissioner Mike Aresco has been the most outspoken c...

Postgame press conference. UMass part after 20 minute mark
Love having Frank as our coach and this team! We'll lick our wounds and be better from these experiences.

Re: Game 31, 2023-24: A10 Tourney Quarters (3/14)

Probably not the best time to write, as I am extremely disappointed and ticked off in how this team has closed out the A10 season for the 2nd year in a row. Yes, I know last year’s excuses don’t apply to this year and vice versa, but I really don’t want to hear any excuses! Two years in a row, we a...
