I am pretty sure that the "TV" name came during Lou's freshman year, before he was a starter. He had already demonstrated the tendency to show up big for the big games, which were televised. I have a memory of several upper-classmen being asked something like "when does Lou Roe play b...

Then again, don't loose to Northeastern and UM will get crouds like that more often.

Horse first. Cart second.

I didn't even see him go into the croud. I think at that point I was running through the streets of NJ, celebrating. I have no problem forgiving a young kid for a spontaneous and positive, albeit out-of-line, celebration of a great game and huge win. Its an easy mistake for a good kid to make. When ...

"Used to be VOR"]Never said his recruiting was great. I said it was a solid B."

to Paraphrase Jessica Rabbit: This team isn't bad - its just coached that way.

"calipari, with his greasy hair"

I wouldn't even compare the hair under this coaching regime.

Headpainter, thanks for the update. Great to see A10 schools recruiting well. However, I noticed ... "uconn" is spelled wrong on the site you linked to. There are no capital letters in that schools name.

Not to change the subject, but did anyone see that Duke has decided to eliminate 8:00 AM classes?

1) If UMass hoops genuinely kicks ass next year, I will gladly sign my name on the list of folk who knew less about hoops than Coach Lappas. 2) Since the coaching change, Bruiser's recruits seem to have left the program at about the same rate as Lappas' recruits have. I don't see a big difference in...

You would have to check the Sears Cup standings to see the effect of the current status of the water polo and gymnastics teams. Right now, UMass is tied for 188th with more than a page worth of teams.

The team has lost one or more players at the end of each of the past few years. It would have been a big surprise if the team didn't loose anyone at the end of this year. I hope to be proven wrong, but I think the roster for next year will have nothing to do with the success of the team. Next year f...

One of the worst things that UM did was "bump" longtime fans for bandwagon wannabes in need of a tax deduction. I would love UM to vow never to do that again. How about this: reserve a very few rows 3/4 of the way around the court for students. Define "very few" to make sure it w...

I have to agree with Holly on the comparison to BC and uconn's basketball programs. Take a look at the endowment for athletic departmens: uconn has 20X what UM has, the BC athletic endowment is larger than all of UM's. Its not fair to a hoops coach to ask that they compete against those resorces yea...

As far as I can tell, the best finger lake reds come from a small winery called Frontenac Point (spelling?). They are located on the South West side of Cayuga. Since they sell all the wine they can make without advertsing, they don;t pay to get on the wine maps. Their pinot blends are drinkable, and...

If I had a burning urge to know something, and was sure that I had a right to know something, I would want to hear the account from someone who had first hand information, not second hand information. I am sure that the coach or athletic director will tell you what you everything that you need to kn...
