I am not sure where I stand on this fellow. Phil makes a good point that being recruited at 14 is NUTS. If he is not committed to getting an education, may be a waste of time for Ford and UM, and NBA development league would be a better fit we'll see. Ford will have a 'Bridge too Far", or two, ...

Folks,

Maybe the underlying issue is college was not for him, and that plus the pressure of bball in D1 just was not his cup of tea.

My 11 year old was bummed - he said "Deli was Cool"- this is HIGH praise. He was fun to watch and best wishes to him.

I don't know about others, but for me, basketball is a sport and game, not an entertainment extravaganza motif for the attention impaired. During the recent NBA finals, his 'interview' at halftime was more a justification for the gaming of the NBA (read EA sports on XBox) and being as important as t...

Tubby is a class guy - taking the high road here when he could have slammed the door shut is ok with me. There are a LOT of bad actors and retrograde classless morons in college athletics, and the Good guys need to float above the river of B.S.. We are going to see a 2 tier after high school basketb...

No right hand - doubtful for more than Europe now. At best, free agent tryout.

Maybe Europe, NBA I doubt, even as undrafted free agent. Celts are giving Coppenrath a look see, so never say never.

Father Quigley was a wonderful, dear, warm man - and the reason I have given to the Newman Center for so many years. Lord only knows how many troubled folks he helped with a smile and some kind words. The Newman Center was a special place becuase of him, and I think the best way to honor his legacy ...

Life has got it about "Life" - it's all about the work you put in. The great NBA players such as Jordan and Bird constantly worked to improve their game and were never satisfied - I am sure Coach will keep the fires lit, but 500 jumpers a day is a big commitment to start with - EXCELLENT.

Sounds like Bonner will give the big boys down low a real workout during his first year - maybe they'll be forced to shoot using either hand!!! It's all good with Coach Ford.

Time for a little Jesuit involvement. Seriously, they are getting far afield from any sort of effective representation of a religiously based and administered school. It will be very interesting to see if the alumni there start grumbling over the Heinie and Brie, or actually doing something. I would...

Getting youth groups involved is precisely the right thing to do. While wemay get a prospect, it is all about building a following outside of campus and the alumni/ae.

I think the trend is for more freedom of action by the coach, given the 5/8 rule disappearance. And, if you are going to do it, best the first year. I am not necessarily Adovcating this approach, my preference is to give holdovers their best shot to improve. I would hope Universities would honor fin...
