My heart sank as I read the Boston Globe just now. A terrific, classy guy -our best UMASS ambassador, and a guy who made a large university seem intimate with his easy smile and hello's around campus. A sad day.

Terrific to hear from Tom

One of the best UM moments prior to the '90's blitz was the '73 win over Missouri - who as I recall towered over UM. Tom Murphy and Tom L. held tought with Al doing his sky walking best scoring. As I recal, it was St. Paddy's and we were all esconced at an Irish bar across from the MSG with Notre Da...

LOL funny. Especially Isaiah and Pete Rose. We do NOT need a poor communicator - we need a cheerleader.

No more 45 to 55 year old burnouts - NO JARVIS. You think the Lappas package was outlandish - wait on what Jarvis would want to 'take the risk' that UM is his last stop. Not worth it. Give us an energetic 30 something guy who has presence/can promote the program within and without UMASS. A previous ...

My girlfriend, now wife, and I sat with a bunch of Brooks House folks right at mid-court about 2/3 of the way up - if we got in line soon enough. My wife tutored Duarte - nice fellow. Town was a force at power forward, and had a nice turnaround jumper from the post, as did Murphy.

Cagers Unite!!!!! Pitino to Skinner. for the "slam layup". Jack leaman yelling at Murphy "My way, Murphy, My way." Long waits in the snow to see UMASS beat BC - first time I heard "Sucks" used in public, as in "BC Sucks", circa '74. Billy Endicott from the cor...

I think Martelli has class and will not deliberately pile it on - I think we are looking at 85-45, 20 point deficit at half. We will get caught up in shooting 3's and make no more than 20%.

The messages Lappas has out there now from the post-game show are murder on motivation. I am sure he is downcast about what is going on - but he just cannot seem so hope less in public. He is now accelerating the tanking process - you'll start seeing guys coming back slower from injury, and certainl...

Our Promised Future Lives.... at 'Nova!!!!!

Sorry, Olean is too far from Acton, so my son and I took in the BC/'Nova game at the Heights. Game delivered what we were promised with Lappas's arrival - motion offense, mostly 3 guard attack, lots of crisp passing down low, balanced by terrific 3 point shooting (near 70%) Ironic , since this is th...

We are now ranked below non-scholarship (read IVY League) schools? And New England is not exactly bball heaven for talented college teams. Remember, UMASS went to the "Eastern Eight"/A10 to get out of the New England morass of mediocrity - so it is a fair comparison for us to display our R...

Yeechhhh

Where was the energy of the Tenn. Game? Another 3rd qtr slump, catch up, and then run out of gas. Discouraging - looks more and more like not enough quality players, no matter what the coaching scheme, so a looong season continues. Cannot win with 1 or 2 guys stepping up per game - Lee last game, An...

A lost 10 minutes we cannot afford

This team needs to stay close and keep the effort up - when it slipped in the "3rd qtr" - they had no capacity to get more than 4 points back before UT answered, and that was the game. UT defensive effort was strong - according to the UT press they were run ragged for an extra long practic...

Ok - Oregon and NC State

Yep - I actually WENT To the Oregon game in Springfield - the turnout was abysmal and it seems so long ago. Perhaps that is what happens when programs go south - good things seem even longer ago than they were. For the record, both teams were Top 50 or better in end of season Sagarin ranking  s.
