Re: 2023 Season

From the Athletic Dept. website: All guests wishing to park a vehicle on gameday in parking lots surrounding McGuirk Alumni Stadium will require a paid parking pass. Patrons are encouraged to secure game day parking in advance. UMass students can purchase a parking pass in Lot 22/33 (based on availa...

Re: Game 7, 2022-23: at Harvard (12/2)

Thanks, Floyd. I'm still a season ticketholder but I'm not making the 190-mile round trip for every game. I live in Cambridge so Harvard is about a 1.6-mile round trip. Hope to see you at one of the Mullins games.

Actually Mike started this thread a long time ago, but nobody has jumped in since September. I went on the Harvard website on Monday and picked up a couple of tickets.

Re: Toledo Game

^ Point well taken, although it still doesn't address the fact that FCS football is a huge money loser because the revenue is negligible, as opposed to the seven-figure payouts we're receiving for getting annihilated by P5 schools. If we went back to FCS, then it would be what it used to be: a loss ...

Re: 2022-23 Schedule

The more-likely standard opponents we'd get to come to the Mullins Center are, of course: Lowell, NU, BU, Harvard, Holy Cross. I'd be fine with all five coming to Amherst for a butt-kicking experience next season. I'd even be okay with one of those games on the road in a two-for-one series. We shou...

Re: Swamy Retiring - June 2023

Swamy has been a great chancellor, and yes, a friend of athletics as the front porch of the campus. Hopefully his successor will share that view. We still have him for one more school year, but it's not too early to wish the Chancellor congratulations and all the best in retirement!

Re: Frank Martin he’s one of us!

^ First things first! The majority of alumni and fan base are to the east and that's where you start! I'm sure in time he'll get out there. Coach Martin said at the "Coaches Caravan" event the other day that one of the first calls he made after taking the UMass job was to John Calipari. H...

Lappas wasn't hired because he was the biggest name. As I recall, it was kind of a backroom political deal.

Re: Liam

That would be a tremendous career move for Liam. At the tender age of 36, Sean McVay has already sent assistants Zac Taylor, Matt LaFleur and Brandon Staley to NFL head coaching jobs, and they have all had early success. I don't think we can say the same about the Belichick coaching tree.

Re: Game Six: UConn

Maybe 4 MBB NC's and a zillion WBB NC's will do this to you, but many UConn fans continue to have a highly inflated opinion of their worth in the overall college athletics universe.

Re: If a FB only inquiry is made to UMass - your preference

I think UMass, UConn and Temple need to put their heads together and talk about options for some kind of Northeastern football-only arrangement. These are three large public universities in the region with the most on the line. The AAC is about to go on life support which obviously impacts Temple, w...
