Re: 2019 Season

I’ve resigned myself to the fact that UMass will lose out the string. The defense has gaping personnel issues that I don’t think will be fixed as the season progresses. The offense isn’t far behind. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if they win a game. I’ll still go to the games and watch to see growth....

More than feel bad. His diatribe May be an indictment of the AD. Not sure yet.
Let's not lose this AD: he's actually young and has a career. The last guy, McCutcheon, was old and couldn't have cared less. He hired Molnar.

Re: State of the Progam

I watched the first two games and like most everyone else was extremely disappointed in the results. That said, I'm not willing to write the Walt Bell era off after two games. He inherited a team that lost its top 2 QBs, its leading rusher, the first consensus All-American in a short FBS history an...

Re: State of the Progam

After 7 years of abysmal failure, a sane take would be that UMass is in way over it's head, there is zero light at the end of the tunnel, and the prognosis is slow painful demise. No fanbase, no incentive for quality recruits to attend, subpar facilities, no conference. Fork meet roast. I can’t arg...

0-12 is almost a lock at this point. I predicted 3-9. Don't know where one win will come from. We could be worse than UConn last year.

in many ways this is worse than the loss to Maine at Gillette.
If we didn't have 8 seasons scheduled, I'd say just pull the plug on this debacle

Re: Game 2: Southern Illinois - 9/7/2019

This isn't happening. We're worse than a piss poor 1AA team. Lose this, and we could be 0-12.

That will work when you have established programs like that with an experienced O line but more than not with the line we have.
Totally agree. This may be one of those Charlie Molnar seasons (I hope not).

Re: Game 1: @ Rutgers - 8/30/2019

at least 2 calls went against us: the targeting call and the kickoff that went off the RU player and the B1G refs gave it back to RU. Tough to win when you're an independent not named Notre Dame on the road. That said, I think we beat Southern Illinois, Akron and UConn.

Re: future scheduling talk

Steve, see McKinney's post directly above yours. I don't understand the debate. I can't go back to whatever I was talking about in MARCH but obviously if I was referencing several Gillette games it was about attendance numbers over the (likely many) years. I have been one of 3-4 thousand people in ...

Re: 2019 Season

I think a football only membership anywhere would be best - but primarily for the travel cost to non-revenue sports. I think the MAC East you've portrayed above makes sense, but I'm not sure if the juice is worth the squeeze if the only benefit is potential bowl placement. It wouldn't be worth it j...

Re: 2019 Season

I completely agree with both of you. I meant more that our shot at getting into a stable conference may have passed and never return. The cream is rising to the top and I think will separate itself sooner than later - maybe we never would have made it there anyway, but we are certainly nowhere near...

^ 100% - the time for action has passed and honestly may never return. What they are doing right now is what is needed if opportunities arise. These investments are the footings for a foundation for the future. Can’t have put this effort in and assume all opportunities have dried up. We're in bette...
