Re: Game 20, 2024-25: GW (1/22)

I was at the 1995 debacle. It was actually a great (albeit frustrating) game. Having the President in attendance magnified the situation, but I bet he would have showed up in the locker room had the outcome gone our way. https://gwsports.com/news/2021/10/1/mens-basketball-gw-athletics-vault-mens-bas...

Question for Tom McLaughlin

Tom,
Always appreciate your insights here. I was fortunate enough to see your senior season. Just curious, what were your reasons for coming to UMass and what other programs were on the table for your services?

Re: Historical milestones

At them? I was our high scorer with three points in each game! Berkman made a foul shot both games. As I remember, your flat-footed set shot from eighteen feet out was masterful. Your under-hand free throw shooting needed some work. But the fans came out to marvel at your hook shot from anywhere in...

For those of us who tend to ignore the often absurd hyperbole of the maz, I will offer up the February 23, 1974 108-38 drubbing of Maine at the Cage. That was an awesome show.

Re: Students

Back in the days of Skinner, Eldredge, Pyatt, etc.,the games were usually over in an hour and forty minutes. There were no media timeouts. And timeouts did not wait for multiple commercials. There was limited late-game fouling unless the teams had a legitimate chance of overcoming a two- or maybe th...

Most of you are way ahead of me regarding past UMass guys, but I will throw out the name Aazar Abdul-Rahim, currently on the staff at BC.

The Tush Push, what say ye?

Just curious. The Tush Push, aka the Brazilian Butt Lift, has become a staple in the game. What are your thoughts about this play? Personally, I'm too much of a purist, after having the illegal assisting the runner rule for multiple decades of game watching, to accept the goofy-looking play. What wo...

To this day, I cannot say "Sandro Vitiello" without a hand motion and an accent on the "ell". Along with a little inflection on the "an" in his first name. Try it. It flows pretty well. :D

Re: Mid-season MAC check-up

^^ Nor was I trying to be snarky with my thread question, based on my preseason underwhelmed attitude to our move. I was curious to know if anyone was paying attention to our future opponents. I actually watched some decent chunks of MAC games, trying to get a feel of the lay of the land. I will agr...
